Why Would I Read the Article: It is so sad what has happened to Antioch in the past 6-8 years or so. It used to be a great little middle class suburb, with lots of families and good schools. Then the city sold its soul to Section 8, and all the criminals from Oakland and Richmond were essentially paid to live for free in these 2 story, 3-4 bedroom homes, all while you and me footed the bill.

Shockingly, they brought all their crime and bullshiat with them, and turned what used to be an idyllic little setting is now a freaking warzone, and you are liable to lose your life just by setting foot inside the city. That's not remotely an exaggeration, sadly. My ex gf used to live in Antioch (and went to elementary school with Maurice Jones-Drew (he was just maurice drew back then), and she won't even visit old family and friends, because it's so dangerous.

I have no idea why cities allow section 8 housing. Is there any mystery to what happens, EVERY TIME, when they do that? I mean, I get that democrats have to give free stuff to poor people, because that's what they do, but is it really worth destroying entire cities and communities just because more poor people means more votes?

Tragic.

Oh come the fark on. Antioch has always been a bit of a rough town and yes it has gotten worse but I would have never described Antioch as idyllic that is just retarded. And it is not that dangerous, there is what like maybe ten murders per year max in a city of over 100k? OMG IM SO SCARED OF TEH BLACKS THEY ARE GONNA GIT ME. It is nothing compared to parts of (in no particular order) Vallejo, Richmond, San Pablo, Oakland, Berkley marina, EPA, Hunter's Point, etc. I'm not saying you should have made your GF go visit if she was uncomfortable but it is really not that bad compared to many, many other places (not that it is a great or even decent town).

Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony.

Are you kidding me? You really think Antioch is as bad as East Oakland or Richmond? Or was that a joke? I'm not saying Antioch is an amazing or wonderful place but I have been all over the bay area and it is really not that bad...look at the crime stats if you don't believe me.

They're in the East Bay.

So it is purely a matter of geography?
