The rookie parade on the mound didn't help much.

The tunnel, bridge, comerica park. Is the Sears Tower or Joe Louis Arena next?

If Detroit blew up it wouldn't look much different than it does right now. I guess someone got grounded from their Xbox.

Bomb - Detroit - Seems a bit redundant to me.

Y'know, when Leyland announced that Turner was gonna start, I was of two different minds. 1) "Oh cool, let's see if the rookie is gonna step up and deliver in a tough spot." 2) "Oh hell, we're gonna get killed." I had amazing seats behind home plate in the Tigers Den area, with the shade, a good breeze, and my co-workers bringing me cheap food from the break room.

Then Turner started pitching, and mindset number 2 won out. Now I don't think we'd be able to trade Turner for a sack of beans and Brandon Inge.

Bomb threat against a plane? Shut down the entire airport, rescreen everyone and check all bags. Everyone already paid for their tickets, so what are you going to do?
Bomb threat against a stadium? Shut down? Are you crazy? The TV advertisers would go nuts and refuse to pay.

Should MLB just go ahead and hand over the AL MVP & ROY trophies to Mike Trout? He'll probably finish the season leading the AL in AVG, SB, and R, despite not playing the full season, and I'll bet he hits 25 HRs if he doesn't get injured. About the only thing he doesn't do well is draw walks.

He's actually got an above average walk rate, which is fairly impressive for a rookie.

The real reason for concern with Trout is the .410 BABIP. He hits a ton of LDs and he's obviously very fast, so it's not inconceivable that he'll keep that up for the season, but I wouldn't bet on it.

8 of the 12 guys on the White Sox pitching staff right now are rookies, and one more is in his first year of starting after being moved from the pen. Boo farking hoo.

I flipped over from whatever else I was watching in time to see the 3 run shot to make it 4-0 in the top of the first with no outs. I just went to sleep after that.

Never under estimate the stupidity of the BWAA and their importance of September numbers because "it matters more" or some other made up guidelines.

Do you have Tiger Den season tix? Or know someone? I'm trying to come back for a weekend in August and stubhub prices are insane.

And once you sit in the tiger den, regular seats are the equivalent of coach on spirit air.

Obviously he still doesn't deserve the MVP since his team won't win the division.

/Actually expect him to regress slightly and not lead the league in WAR giving Verlander another MVP

Angels are really scary right now. Makes me that much more impressed that the Yankees were an A-Rod-not-choking-away-the-final-at-bat-like-he-usually-does away from sweeping them.

As for the Tigers, I get the sense they'll turn things around. Baseball Prospectus seems pretty sold on the White Sox for the Central, but I'm not.

Mike Trout will win the AL MVP if:

- He leads the league in average, runs, and stolen bases
- The Angels win the AL West

Without the division I don't seem him getting the votes needed. His WAR is 5.2 right now though, 2nd behind McCutchen at 5.3 (who's having quite a year), so maybe he'll steal it from Verlander if he keeps it up.

way too soon to crown him MVP, but I think he's got AL ROY locked

Trout and Hunter down on Ks so far now.
but Puyols goes yard, 1-0 halos!

The people who vote for MVP don't care about WAR.
