Ugh....I don't have a good list to choose from......Sleepless in Seattle, Assassins, Love Happens (what a schmaltzy piece of crap), etc.

So my answer is "It Happened at the World's Fair", only because Elvis was in it.

Hmmm...

Action: X-Men series;

RomCom: Bird on a Wire;

Caper: Harry in Your Pocket (1973);

Classy: Five Easy Pieces, Little Women (1994 version)

What about "Say Anything" or "Singles"?

Both are excellent movies filmed in/near Seattle.

I haven't seen either one (just 10 minutes or so of "Singles", so I really can't make a call on those).

On a side note, "Saving Silverman" takes place in Seattle, but was filmed in Vancouver.

DEY TOOK ER JERBS!!!!!

Yeah they do that. They even try to push Vancouver as NYC sometimes.

IIRC, the biggest location fark-up I've seen was on an episode of "The A-Team". They go to Miami Beach, but you can see the Santa Monica Mountains in the background.

'She's Out of My League'

It's also the only movie ever shot in my town

2012-07-18 12:03:00 PM
Lots of movies have been filmed on Long Island, but apparently Jesse, which I've never seen, had parts filmed in my town specifically.

Where I grew up: Citizen's Band AKA Handle With Care

Where I live now: Any number of things because it's San Francisco. I enjoyed Foul Play and What's Up Doc personally, but I guess there's probably more classic / funnier / pointy-headed movies out there that I just haven't seen or didn't enjoy as much.

The Natural. I was an extra

2012-07-18 12:07:33 PM
Hoosiers (sigh).

I grew up in the area around the high school they used for the external shots of the high school in the movie. *&^%ing everyone in that area ended up being an extra somewhere. It was all anyone would ever talk about well into the 90's

To this day, I still haven't seen it.

Not a movie but Veronica Mars was shot on my very block quite often. Stu Segal Studios is right outside my window at work too so lots of stuff goes on there.

Here's to Life (with Ossie Davis and James Whitmore);

Watchtower (Tom Berenger--crappy movie, but the lighthouse looked great);

Pictures of Hollis Woods (TV movie with Sissy Spacek, who is two feet tall in real life);

I'm in Dallas, so while we do have plenty of great porno shot here there's also a hefty amount of movie making done. Although I have no idea what movies have been done that would be better than Debbie.

It was fun to watch the occasional episode of Walker and try to figure out where they were driving.

I've never watched the show Dallas although the audio engineer used to be one of my teachers in high school.

Funny, the only two movies that are coming to mind right now are Necessary Roughness (1991) and An Given Sunday (1999)

I'm not aware of any, but you can see my hometown on this map in a scene from, "So I Married an Axe Murderer."

I think I remember hearing the same thing about I Dream of Jeanie. That was supposed to be in Coco Beach and you could always see the mountains. Florida must suck to shoot in, which is probably why Disney and Universal sunk so much money in studios that didn't go anywhere.

And in CSI Miami, the Florida license plates are on the front of the car! I mean maybe I'm being pedantic but that seems like a fairly easy detail to not fark up.

I was excited when they filmed some of World War Z in Glasgow, but now it looks like it's going to be stinking turd of a movie.

:(
