Bendal: I swear I wouldn't recognize my state of birth now, after not living there for nearly 30 years. The counties mentioned are seriously rural, but I grew up in a rural county as well and don't recall this level of bigotry, prejudice and hatred, ever.

How did this kind of behavior become accepted and even encouraged, by one of the main political parties in this nation?

Southern Strategy.

Vodka Zombie: They certainly do sound taxed enough already, don't they?

And they look tired.

2012-07-18 11:18:29 AM
Look, it's in the interest of population growth, people.

Tennesseans prefer to copulate with their own kin, see? Once you get all kind of foreigners there, Muslims, Hawaiians, communists, etc, well none of these people share direct family links with the local Tennessee population, so the population is gonna go DOWN.

And if they're dark-skinned foreigners, it's practically impossible to imagine that they may very be a distant and very attractive cousin.

alywa: They are the only state to pass Anti-Sharia Law statuates which would imprisson Islams to 15 years in jail for practicing their treasonous poison.

9.5

Seriously.

2012-07-18 11:18:38 AM
That's okay. It's just more state-level derp for the federal court grist mill, which will of course cost Tennessee more money they don't have.

Fiscal responsibility!

2012-07-18 11:24:50 AM
I've got to get out of this farking state.

Remember, the TEA Party is about taxation! Taxed Enough Already, see?

It's about taxes! All, about taxes. There's nothing else going on with the Tea Party except for taxes. And taxes.

Shrugging Atlas: The US fought and won the Civil War for THIS?

Sherman showed them far too much mercy.

2012-07-18 11:25:44 AM

doyner: The county GOP resolutions denounce Ali as an expert in "Sharia compliant finance."

What this is I don't even...

Muslims can't use credit in the same manner as other people under the strictest intrerpretations of their religion. So what they need is more of a service. Instead of getting a individual loan for a significant capital expenditure, my understanding is that instead they need to have someone buy it for them, and then they lease to own. It's a practically insignificant difference, but I believe that is what the hillbilly was refering to with all the grace and insight typical of one of his inbreeding.

2012-07-18 11:25:44 AM
C'mon, GOP. You have got to rid yourself of the Tea Party in order to return to a level of sanity that has not been seen in your party for years.

C'MON, GOP! I KNOW YOU CAN DO IT!!

Lenny_da_Hog: Remember, the TEA Party is about taxation! Taxed Enough Already, see?

I think, when they say "Taxed Enough Already," they're actually talking about their brains. We were foolish to assume they were complaining about taxes. These people are just demanding Obama stop using such big farking words.

2012-07-18 11:27:03 AM
You know who else wanted to restrict freedoms and rights on a religious minority?

Yet these are the same people that parade with Obama as Hitler photos.

A petition needs to be started asking these states to just please leave. Pack up and secede. I think we should make it a law that if Texas, Arizona, Tennessee, Missouri, Oklahoma and a few others with to form their own union we should support them in every way.

Short of that we just force them out. Enough of this bullshiat already, just get rid of these backwards inbred retards.

"They seem willing to accept the claims and defense of the Muslim Brotherhood at face value, refusing to even consider that, perhaps, those bent on destroying Western Civilization might just be infiltrating our institutions. ... It is not like this has never happened before.

A teabagger talking about muslims infiltrating our institutions to destroy our society without a hint of irony...

Oh, that's right, remind again them which side won, rub it in some more!!!

Nashville was the first city captured by Union Forces during the Civil War, in a seriously embarrassing route. ... some dips shiats are aching to have their asses kicked again.

Mentat: You. Can't. Do. That. Farkers. It's in the goddamn Constitution that you claim to love so much.

Those people would drop a deuce on one corner of the Constitution, and then wipe their cornhole with another corner, if it furthered their goals. They don't really care about that document. Hell, there are teabaggers who have now reverted to basing laws on the Magna Carta just because they can't incorporate all of the components of the Constitution without contradicting themselves.

2012-07-18 11:32:52 AM
I'm going to say something I only say very, very rarely: the Republican Party is doing the right thing. The actual state party isn't endorsing this and is distancing themselves. That's actually a good sign, and credit where it's due that they aren't backing these bigots. We can argue about whether they should be more forceful in their reproach, but hey, don't tell me you didn't expect them to make a statement at least half heartedly endorsing this. Instead they're basically pushing the fringe to the fringe for the first time in...well, I can't remember how long.

So yeah, good for them, and this is coming from a commie pinko libby lib.

Time for the Ballad of the Tea Party Patriots (to the tune of Lee Greenwood's God Bless the U.S.A.):

If tomorrow all the subsidies were gone,
That others worked for all their life
I'd have to beat again
That face of my children and my wife

I'd thank my lucky Bible
To be hating Muslims here today
Because the flag still stands for freedom
As long as you don't count rights for gays!

Cuz I'm proud to be an Amercian!
Where at least I can be tax free!
And I won't forget the men who lied
To give that derp to me
And I'll proudly stand up next to you
And defend Dick Armey's crap today
Cuz their ain't no doubt, I love some T.E.A.
God Bless the U.S.A.!

That explains a lot/presents an opportunity to troll county republican parties.

The downside of an all-tea-party economy: who will build the government-provided scooters, print the Social Security checks, can the industrial lager, staff the Medicare hospitals, etc.?

On a lighter note.

That's the fairness and spirit of bipartisanship I've come to expect, both from asshole Tennesseeans and the GOP in general:

The media must be fair and balanced, but only if you hire 100% conservative Republicans.
The government must not pick winners and losers, unless it makes winners of the GOP and losers of the Dems.
A person's worth is based on the content of their character - their work ethic and their demonstrated skill - unless they're liberals or Muslims.
We live in a meritocracy, but we've decided you and your beliefs are without merit.

// TN is one of the only places in the US I've felt nervous to admit I was Jewish
// the others are southern VA and SC

If done right, they'll have to hire a non-Muslim, non-gay intern to sit there and delete posts all day. SMALL CHRISTIAN GOVERNMENT AT WORK!

Only the Teatards could look a picture of a woman with her face visible, no veil, and an unbuttoned shirt (only one or two more to go until you see cleavage) and scream "Sharia Law!". Does these clowns have any idea what they're talking about?

2012-07-18 11:38:55 AM

GAT_00: By the way, the state Senate majority leader, a Republican of course, is being challenged by a Teabagger on these exact grounds - that he promoted Shari'a Law as Majority Leader, because the Governor appointed a Muslim woman who once worked for the Obama White House.

"Challenged?"

Does "challenge" now mean "running into walls headfirst repeatedly while screaming?" Because I can't see a legal challenge going anywhere.

I live here now in one of the Urban areas (Tri-Cities) and it's all around. I grew up in a rural county where in the mid-90s a group of citizens got together to create a pre-school for the children of migrant farm workers. All hell broke loose. The families that started it got terrorized. Death threats, barn burnings the whole deal. Thankfully, they endured and now the school helps keep a lot of toddlers out of the hot sun while their parents work for the local farmers. There are good people here, I would say 10% are good caring people, 80% don't really care as long as they have basic needs and wants met, and 10% are bat shiat crazy who do a lot of harm. Unfortunately, the crazies are louder than the rest of the population.

There has always been a small concentration of racist, bigotted, fascists within the GOP. What scares me is in their current leaderless and directionless state these farkers are taking over.

Have had to deal with members of the Tea Party from Gilmer County GA, not far from TN. Jeesus tits these people are pants-on-head retarded. The way they so earnestly repeat pure nonsense is like something out of a bad pod-people horror movie.

2012-07-18 11:49:32 AM

MadMonk: So, when do we start to hear the cries of "Tea Party Uber Alles!"?

That sounds like one-a them socialisty languages.

Instead, just have one of the JOB CREATORS (money be upon them) set up an "employment center" on some empty land. The workers could turn it into something more productive than an empty plot - gardens, dormitories, workshops, showers, offices... - and to spur the motivation of these workers, the sign over the entryway will read "Work Makes You Free".

It's an uplifting sort of phrase for an uplifting sort of place, if you really concentrate on the idea.

FTFA: According to Bush, Carroll County Republicans don't agree with all of Haslam's decisions, "but we should be fighting the Dems and not each other."

OR...OR you could worry about fixing your POS county and not worry about "fighting" anyone.
