I think that was the fashion police.

That cop should be fired...immediately.

some_beer_drinker: wow, cops are farking dumb dicks!

FTFY.

I hope the case gets thrown out of court. He's guilty of bad taste, nothing more. His penalty should be being laughed at by the people who were watching him and egging him on to show off his bathing suit.

2012-07-18 07:51:33 AM
Yeah that was really stupid on the cops part. It's not like the guy was strutting down the boardwalk in the thing, and it was obvious that he was going to pull his shorts back up.

On the other hand, it's possible that he was already warned not to take his shorts off.

Why are people so worried about Sharia law coming here? It's clear we've already got religious nutjobs making the rules for us.

Sure it looks bad, but that cop has the hots for that guy. He's just horny is all.

I wish they had shot the guy with the microphone.

If you watch the video and stop it right after he's pulled his pants down, you can see he's exposing a lot more than hair...

So, knowing you don't enjoy the image of penis, you went ahead and tried to stop the video during that half-second where the penis was exposed?

BS. I really couldn't see a victim in the video (other than the dude being arrested). His body movement wasn't overtly sexual in nature. I mean a little sexual, but nothing that a PG13 movie wouldn't have.

looks like revenue generation.

I love how every day, somewhere, somehow, a cop re-asserts my position that COPS ARE STUPID!

2C:14-4. Lewdness

a. A person commits a disorderly persons offense if he does any flagrantly lewd and offensive act which he knows or reasonably expects is likely to be observed by other non consenting persons who would be affronted or alarmed.

... c. As used in this section:

"lewd acts" shall include the exposing of the genitals for the purpose of arousing or gratifying the sexual desire of the actor or of any other person.

I think he'll get off, because he wasn't trying to get off.

The guy getting arrested (detained?) did the smartest thing possible and went completely silent as soon as the cuffs went on. The same cannot be said about everybody else in the video.

Newsflash: exposing yourself in public is illegal in most places and will often get you arrested.

Extra Extra: if you're a hairy douchebag trying to make a point don't act and sound like a total cock
running around yelling about "TEH GUBMINT!"

/ and I'm sure the cops just happened to be standing there for no reason and there was nothing at all going on before this video started to give the events in it any context...

The unintended consequences of being an attention whore in public......you might get attention.

1. Anti-nudity laws are asinine.
2. Stupid cop doesn't know the law (and I'm not even part of the Fark ITG Cop Bashing Brigade TM) Nude != Lewd
3. The crowd was incredibly annoying / dumb.

The fact that the tape starts with the cop instantly popping in the second the pants come down tells me there is more to it.

Stupid law that bothers with a man in a lewd bikini though.

tetsoushima: The guy getting arrested (detained?) did the smartest thing possible and went completely silent as soon as the cuffs went on. The same cannot be said about everybody else in the video.

I think it was slightly planned that way. The suspect remains silent while the crowd does all the talking.

These guys should try youtubing the cops hanging out at the docks. Or the corrupt ones in Internal Affairs. And they should definitely bring the bullhorn.

The cameras out probably forced the cop to do that. If he had let it slide then the video would be titled 'Cop Ignores Dude Exposing Himself'.

2012-07-18 05:59:26 PM
I am totally okay with his arrest.
1) The cop stated that he was warned.
2)Even if for a moment, he was fully exposed
3) Children were present. When only adults around I could let somethings slide, however if my daughter was there he would've caught a beating
4) They were escalating things till the officers had to do something. Trolls are trolls.

If the officer was really smart, confiscate the video camera for evidence to be used in court. That would've shut up the trolls and proved the states case.

1. True
2. Doesn't matter, that's not illegal. Nudity in and of itself is not against the law. Lewd behavior is, though. That is partially defined as being an attempt to arouse the actor or another. That was obviously not the case here... On top of everything else, the exposure was purely accidental and extremely brief. Even if simply being nude was a crime I doubt that this would stand up in court.
3. There's no evidence that observing casual nudity harms children. As a matter of fact there is evidence that indicates it is healthy psychologically. There is, however, evidence that observing violence is detrimental to children. Congrats!
4. Yes, they were very annoying attention whores who were probably doing more to hurt their cause than to help it. The arrest still wasn't legitimate.

The city attorney pointed out that there are two city ordinances that prohibit public nudity, which includes topless sunbathing.

Obviously nudity is not allowed making the arrest legitimate.

Here's a link that claims they gathered there to celebrate the repeal of a law banning bathing suits on the boardwalk. There's a couple other similar claims from other sites.

So, yea. Basically these people showed up on the boardwalk with speakers, drums and a microphone, drew extra attention to themselves, one of them violated two city ordinances against public nudity and then his idiot friends decided to take it to "the man" when he got picked up.

Sometimes people who really didn't do anything wrong get harassed by assholes in uniform. This isn't one of those cases and it's retarded to pretend otherwise. This is a case where some fat idiot went out of his way to put on a bathing suit that didn't fit, went to a hippy drum session on the boardwalk and then his balls flopped out and he got nicked for breaking the law.

You don't get to act like this was some undeserved abuse of police power when you engage in multiple attention whoring behaviors that give people, including nearby cops, a reason to be watching you.

And tell your idiot, hairball "gubmint" friend to shove his mic up his ass.

When cops make stupid arrests like that, and the case gets tossed out by the judge or the DA declines to press charges, the arresting officer should get a mandatory weeks unpaid suspension. As it stands now there's no checks or balances in that part of our justice system. They've done independent audits of our local police force in the past and they clearly showed some officers have an above average record of cases that never went to trial, were dismissed or found not guilty. This is just police overstepping their authority in my opinion.

If you think I wouldn't beat you to an inch of your life for exposing yourself to my nine year old little girl, because you say it won't affect her as badly as watching dad kick your butt. You might want to reconsider life choices that could lead to jail and or hospital, because you sound like a pedaphile.

If you believe a split second of accidental flashing warrants beating someone to within an inch of their life, you should probably see a therapist.

I also hope your daughter's mother keeps the police on speed dial, because it sounds like dear old dad is the type who will probably snap one day. I don't want to imagine the kind of harm you'll do to your little girl when you do.

Find someone to help you before you do something you'll regret.

With all the problems facing America I can't really find it in me to give a rats ass about a pissing match between a bunch of douchebags and a turd sandwich cop they're trying to provoke.

Nice of them to find something constructive to do with their day....

As much as I didn't want to see his hairy sack, I don't thing it was intentional. Like a good number of police forces, they have too many officers and need to justify their existence. Luckily, the courts will most likely laugh it out of court.

1. I was basing it on the state law. But you are correct, the puritans in the city have an ordinance (I assume, based on the quote in the paper...I didn't look it up).
2. That doesn't make the arrest legitimate...there still must be intent, I would imagine. A split second of "wardrobe malfunction" won't stand up in court. The arrest was BS any way you look at it.

That's a good idea in theory, but if you live somewhere like I do (ultra liberal / bleeding heart) the judges and DA constantly undermine law enforcement on legitimate arrests. People on video committing violent crimes that are felonies will get their charges reduced to misdemeanors. Misdemeanor crimes are often refused prosecution. You basically have to murder someone to get the attention of the courts, and even then they will bend over backwards trying to be as lenient as possible. The same criminal, committing the same crime in the next county over, will often get a jail or prison sentence when they only receive probation in my county.
