That was a legitimately great read. I can only pray that this reporter is hired by a much larger news organization.

I can only pray this reporter doesn't end up living in Arpaio's tent city in the desert.

Oh Wow, that article headline... I lol'd

This About That: I can only pray this reporter doesn't end up living in Arpaio's tent city in the desert.

I would suspect that if the reporter is ever in Maricopa County he's going to be subject to some totally justified and not at all motivated police beating.

This is the kind of ignorant, stupid, pointless witch hunt you would expect from a backwards village in the middle of India.

They should be ashamed of what they are doing. I hate people, most of are ignorant, unevolved, stupid, uneducated, savage schizophrenic monkeys with severe cognitive dissonance.

Of course that "backwards village in the middle of India" is likely to compare favourably to large swathes of Arizona.

Willie Geist would like Joe Arpaio to apologize to the citizens of the United States before he crawls back into the hole of inconsequentiality that befits a man of such acute ignorance, audacity and incompetency.

Okay, which one of you is trolling the comments?

I have written Congressman Marino and Senators Casey and Toomey to call for a complete investigation as to why the White House issued a FAKE Birth Certificate and why the President of the United States still insists its real. God bless Sheriff Joe Arpaio for looking after the Constitutional rights of the citizens in his county. The question is, who is looking out for the rest of the country. Had Barry Soetoro done ANYTHING to make America stronger in any positive definable category this might be a moot point. But seeing the suicidal direction AKA Barrack Hussein Obama II is leading us, and the fraudulent Birth Certificate he issued demands a through and complete investigation. The implications of Congress not investigating this matter is scarier than even a rogue impostor president.

Neither of the fine folks there voted for him.

I couldn't read the article after the author called Joe Arpaio's posse the Scooby Doo Gang. That name is an insult to the Scooby-Doo Detective Agency and all of the real investigative work they actually did.

GOLD. Pure gold. Best possible way to start this article.

Because the reporter would violate Phoenix municipal code 12.14.1.a, Failure to Detect Sarcasm?

Also on Arpaio's calendar this week is answering the accusations of the worst racial-profiling practices in the history of this nation, as the Justice Department trial starts Thursday.

Oh, so this was his last big hurrah before that?

And now if anything comes of that he will no doubt start bleating that he's a victim of political persecution.

Looking forward to laughing at him at that point.

Because they are Republicans, and therefore motivated by fear and greed above all other considerations. Arpaio is the Platonic ideal of a teabagger.

Yes, yes Zullo, we realize that. There's a n'er in the WHITE House and this is your Battle of the Little Big Horn.

History will most certainly look back on you favorably.

You're right of course, but the author may not have written the headline and the article is definitely worth the read.

Yeah, I was joking about not reading it. I just wanted to make the obvious hit on Arpaio being a farking douche. I really did think the article was well-written, and it honestly gave Arpaio and his team far more respect than they deserve.

I think he is right where he is supposed to be. The company that owns the New Times is larger than you think, and some of the best reporting comes from them. The Arizona Republic is more right leaning, in the fact that they rarely challenge serious local (R) political issues.

Because people elect them to offices of power over other people. They should be mocked until their credibility is ruined enough that they are not elected.

Taxpayer-funded vacation to Hawaii for Joe Arpaio's friends turns up nothing of substance? I'm shocked, shocked I say.

Joe hopes that donations will make up for the tax money he spent on his friends, but the sadder part is that the tax-hating racist scum that support him will look the other way just this once, because Joe is a hero trying to get the black muslim socialist kenyan out of office.

On the next episode of Cold Case Posse: Wacky shenanigans ensue as Sheriff Joe and The Posse® travel to New Jersey to find Jimmy Hoffa's body. Trouble is heating up for Joe's personal life, as his wife is starting to suspect he's been sleeping with Arlene. Meanwhile, John gets his cancer test results back. Billy and Artie hit the streets of Newark, but get sidetracked at a gentleman's club, much to the dismay of Joe.

That is the most intelligent, well written, and lucid description of what it means to be a liberal I have ever seen.
Though, you could have just shortened it to "I hate people."

I watched the video of the press conference, and its hilarious listening to the "experts". One guy even has his voice processed down an octave to hide his identify!

My favorite bits are how he tries to explain its forgery because the PDF only has a single 8-bit background layer, which is consistent with a forgery, because a real PDF would have one 1-bit layer and multiple 8-bit background layers. (paraphrased)

To avoid the appearance of political favoritism one of the experts used a Mac and the other used Windows.

Each "expert" ran about 600 individual tests on the PDF, with the conclusion that "the document could not have been created with any currently available software."

"We do not believe the document could survive judicial scrutiny".

" I'm really am at lost to understand why it's so difficult for people to understand that this isn't politically motivated."

Great article, and epic Fark thread on this yesterday.

Once Joe Arpaio is no longer a sheriff, I hope to God that Fox News gives him a job. Maybe an hour long "investigative" show, and let him keep his Cold Case Posse.

I mean, there's very little hillbilly satire on TV these days. I've had my fill of rednecks making moonshine on Discovery, or unwashed hicks rassling catfish or alligators in the swamp.

I want me some good ole fashioned Arpaio truthifying!

Nina_Hartley's_Ass - After I sent my original post criticizing your comment I realized that you may have been sarcastic when you said that the article was worth the read. If so, I apologize.

This ridiculous non-issue has had way too much press and anything more is definetly not worth reading. Jus' sayin'...

First thing I thought of when I read that:

I really think you guys are missing the point here. An elderly woman knows, with certainty, that there could not have been an issue with the collation of files in her office 50 years ago. Mistakes doesn't get made on her watch!

Yet you hide your heads in the sand?
