CaptainFatass: It's my understanding that Mr. Wizard had a Sandusky Problem, if you catch my drift.

I don't know where your "understanding" comes from, but I do know that If you wait around long enough, absolutely everything imaginable will come drifting across the 'Net. And many things you wouldn't imagine, too. Meaning, I absolutely guarantee that there's more than one website out there accusing Don Herbert of felonious shenanigans with his or other people's minor charges. There are also websites accusing various well-known people of secretly being lizards. Some of both of these are serious, and believe they have 'evidence'. In point of fact, however, nothing out there produced by actual grown-ups makes this accusation. Mr. Herbert is a man held in high esteem by his colleagues, both contemporary and later. It's not literally impossible that he had some dark secret he took to his grave in 2007, and it's not literally impossible for such allegations to be false -- we really can't prove beyond the absolute shadow of a doubt that any given person is not secretly a lizard, using fantastically advanced technology beyond our understanding or ability to detect to disguise that. But it's nevertheless childish to lob unfounded accusations at anyone, especially those unable to defend themselves.

That show was one of my favorites as a kid. I loved that guy.

acefox1: Stacey from that show was my nerdy dream-girl. We're both around 40 now. Anybody got her number? LOL

/Who'd you rather.... Moose or Lisa?

Not finding anything, which is disappointing, sorry.

For what it's worth, all the kids on the show were child actors, not just kids brought in. So whoever she is would probably have professional credits on IMDB.

There is a generation that became scientists because of Don Herbert. I remember reading one of the Richard Feynman books where he describes having Mr. Wizard fill in for him for a class when he had to be out of town. The word got around and, instead of the usual number of students, that particular class session was SRO. Apparently, most of the students gave credit to Herbert for inspiring them to become scientists.

volcs0: I thought that was all part of the schtick.... like playing along with the girl who thought she was writing random numbers. I didn't see where he was being a dick at all... Are we just supposed to tell kids they're right all the time?

These guys might concur:

It had been said that Herbert wasn't pleased with the "homage."

Ed 'Too Tall' Jones: I clearly remember one episode where Mr. Wizard showed us how to strip the insulation off the ends of an ordinary lamp cord and wrap the bare ends around two forks. And then if you stuck the forks in a hot dog and plugged it in, you could cook the hot dog.

It's a wonder the old fark didn't kill us all.

The dickest Mr. Wizard I recall was when he had some shivering kid submerge himself in a barrel of cold water for a water displacement experiment.

And they made a neat gun for the kids who were still alive.
