Ah, the rarely seen "Reckless Non-Automotive Inane Towing" also known as Drew's Law statute §1326.1817(2)(b)32.b

No operator of a stolen non-road legal paralyzed or obese people transporter may be used to tow any kind of device intended to enable disabled people to propel themselves. Operation of a non-road legal paralyzed or obese people transporter in this manner on a public road while under the influence of alcohol, pharmaceutics, drugs or zombo.com carries a mandatory fine of $2 and summary decapitation by the officer on the scene.

Most people talk about the crazed antics of Ted Nugent and David Lee Roth. This guy is out there living the rock and roll dream his way and on his budget. Let's Kickstart this guy a gallon of gasoline and a case of Banker's Choice bourbon.

This is ridiculous, I mean, the guy should have been arrested for something, public intoxication, theft, disturbing the peace, whatever, but DWI?

DWIs should only apply to actual highway legal motor vehicles. Golf carts, scooters, electric wheelchairs, bicycles, etc, should not fall under DWI statutes.

That raises the interesting question, can you get a DUI if you are drunk on a motorized wheelchair you need for an actual disability?

So glad I can claim to live in the fair city in which this event took place. Unfortunately, what you farkers aren't getting is the sheer distance over which this event took place. South Van Avenue is literally 3,000 feet from the Grand Caillou Walmart.

I can't say I have friends who would do such stupid things, but I know people around here that would. What the hell is wrong with those people?

/Please stop calling us rednecks; we're Cajuns
//Yes, there's a difference

I have heard if them being given to someone in a non motorized wheelchair. The guy beat it in court, he had been visiting the same bar down the street for 20 years and an officer decided he needed "saving" from his sin of alcohol. Of course the guy was a veteran and drank because of his Parkinsons and that cop became very unpopular in that small town.

But I know that anything motorized is subject to DWI. Heck, bicycles have to obey all those laws too. Motorscooters definitely are, and I have known people who lost their licenses to drunk driving, got a DUI bike and ended up in jail for drunk driving on them. On public right of way it does not matter, the rules are the same for everyone.

Depends on the state. I know in WI, while bicycles have all the same "rights and responsibilities" on the road as a motor vehicle (on the road, cant go through a farking drivethru on a bike), you cant get a DUI on one. You can get a drunk in public however. You can get that just for being in wisconsin though.

Hell, the existence of a law that makes operation of a Hoveround under the influence illegal makes me feel like a successful human being, as compared to the typical legislator. What's the next governmental step in micro-management? Staggering under the influence? You can start more trouble quicker on your own two feet than in one of these buggies.

I believe the next crime will be "Being under the influence while intoxicated". They'll make billions.

No shiat!

The first argument for DUI laws is always, "but you are in control of a 2 ton vehicle."
