They can be; the biggest thing to be careful about is that the victim shouldn't be the butt of the joke. In this case, the butt of the joke is the perpetrator (or the perpetrator's enabler, as the case may be).

Sad thing is, corruption corrupts, and as such, I question this U's decisions across the board. They really screwed the pooch here. Where did they miss effective oversight?

I cry tonight b/c everywhere I look I see corruption of the human for profit.

Humans were not made for profit.

Corporations, you must find this out.

This is why you are not human under the law now, or were ever, period.

Democracy demands this humanity realize, now.

We are more than profit.

P.S. You're welcome.

trappedspirit thinks that Penn State has suffered enough, even though there has been virtually no punishment and nothing from the NCAA or from the federal government and people still think JoePa was something other than a disgusting POS. I agree with you, but people like trappedspirit are still drinking Fla-Vor-Ade.

Biness: Millennium: mikaloyd: So they are screwed either way and shouldnt even try to relocate to a better environment?

I didn't say that, only that relocating won't solve all their problems. The death penalty should be imposed anyway (with an appropriate waiver so that students who transfer out can play for their new schools immediately), to encourage the draining of PSU's athlete pool, but those athletes are going to face some unfortunate difficulties.

Actually its built into the death penalty that affected athletes can transfer right away, no strings attached

Anyone know, if the death penalty came down in the next couple of weeks, how'd they handle the scholarship issue? Do schools who accept PSU scholarship players get an additional scholarship that doesn't count against their NCAA allotment (which at this time of year they are most certainly up against)? Does PSU have to pay for their year? It's one thing to get the sit-out year waived but many of these players couldn't afford to actually pay for school themselves. Do they have to be walk-ons?

Also, if PSU got the death penalty right now, how would they handle their current opponent's schedules and how would that factor into the conference championships and the BCS?

Your sentence lacks substantive meaning.

It holds perfunctory, pre-labeled space, but it lacks liquidity.

Subtext much?

If only Penn State and Joe Paterno put this much thought into how they should handle the child rape they facilitated.

there always a few players that might need to be sent to the medical exception list. amiright nick saban? and there are also the signees that don't qualify academically and the schools who aren't at the full 85 currently. as for the schedule the big10 could count penn state forfeits as wins for conference standings so every team has the same number of games in conference (a little unfair, but not everyone has indiana or minnesota on the schedule either). and non-conference it really doesn't matter since it's not the number of wins a team has, but the number of losses that matters for rankings.

The NCAA should vacate at least enough PSU wins that Joe Pa doesn't have the record.

Anyone else find it curious that nobody had ANY idea about this, but once Joe Pa had the record, it comes out in DAYS?

It's gonna need an official song: Hey diddle diddle, that kid needs a fiddle, and the Sandman jumped on that moon. Then JoePa went mute, to save such a sport, so 15 years of molestation by a loon.

To only vacate enough to deny him the record would make it look like a bad joke and a snide insult. Wipe them all; make it clear that this is a punishment.

If Sandusky was farking little girls instead of little boys, you wouldn't call it a heterosexual crime. You'd just call it a crime.

Or at least I hope you would. Its rather disturbing that the word you use to describe the crime is "homosexual", as though that were the most egregious aspect of it.

If Penn State is as great in academics and "overall camaraderie" as it thinks it is, then the loss of three years of NCAA football shouldn't harm the atmosphere in the long run.

It's like being sent to your room. You're supposed to ponder your existence for a while.

I think the victims have been hurt to capacity already, really. Let them vote on it, at least. If anyone needs healing from all of this, it's them, and they need to have some say in what happens. When so much control has been taken from you, you need to get some of that power back.

This should be entirely about the victims, not about football, not about who has the right to bring down the banhammer, not about some stupid legacy.

They should at least be given the option to decide, and have their views known.

They could certainly be consulted anonymously through their attorneys. There's a reason that victims are allowed to speak up during sentencing hearings... having some sort of say in the punishment of the offenders can be a huge step towards healing.

It just strikes me as odd that no one is consulting the people who have suffered the most through all of this.

/as a survivor of 14 years of incest, I really do know a little about things from the victim's perspective
