Musta been some good shiat. It was going for 350.00 an ounce. HIs grow ops had EVERYTHING you need to graft plants and the whole nine yards. Quite the businessman this kid is.

To clarify, he sold $20k a month, so only about 4 pounds. While that is a lot of weight, its not *that* much for a mid level distributor. Its not like he was clearing $20k/month profit for himself.

2012-07-17 11:02:57 AM
$20K per month seems like a larger than average number because what the fark else are you going to do in Ohio, but doesn't every high school in the US have this kid? Are the authorities celebrating because they caught one of them?

"He looks like someone who would be in your church youth group," Fornshell said. " He looks like somebody who would be on student council, or that would be a good friend to one of your young people."

"Very clean and articulate," he went on to say, "He looked like a very tasty one of you hyoomon...err...civilians. A very tasty civilian." Later he went on to explain that the war on drugs was required in order to gather the raw materials to power their starships, again correcting himself with 'patrol vehicles'.

Four pounds of pot does not cost 20k, regardless of how you slice it. This is dubious cop math or they were also running something else.

Well, cop math is different from regular math. Like a full grown plant in cop math is a million dollars on the street. Throw in a couple of aspirin or no doz, and the value increases to eleventy billion.

Do these cops ever hear themselves saying these things, and stop to have a moment of clarity?

You know, to think that its their perceptions that are wrong?

350.00 an ounce
x 16 onces (estimated per plant)
= 5600.00 per plant
x 600 plants (est) assuming they all grew to maturity
= 3,360,000

Math is easy

"Clearly he's a very intelligent individual, he was somebody who was operating really a major drug organization" at a young age, said said Prosecutor David Fornshell of Warren County. "He clearly has some intelligence, but certainly misguided."

Alternately, the laws that enable his enterprise are "certainly misguided".

The figure in the article was $5000/pound which means $312.50 per ounce. That is an accurate price for quality weed

Now lets cut the plant yield down to reasonal expectations which is about a quarter of the size reported, and that's being generous.

It was great the way her mind worked: No guilt, no doubts, no fear. None of my specialties. Just this shameless pursuit of immediate material gratification. What a capitalist! She told me I could make more money in one night than I'd make all year. Enough to pay for my father's car. She told me she'd be my girlfriend. She told me a lot of things. I believed them all. So, she introduced me to her friends. I introduced her to my friends.

Pot isnt a huge problem in Ohio. Its decriminalized.

Up to 100 grams possession counts as a traffic violation. No criminal court involved.

Recently, they decriminalized possession of paraphernalia.

/This happened one county over from me

Each plant yields approximately one pound of marijuana with a street value of $5,000, authorities said. In all, investigators said, the plants are worth a street value of $3 million.

I'm not a big smoker by any means. Though I once traded 60 bucks of illegal (i.e. good) fireworks for an oz. That has been pretty much the extent of my pot smoking.

But 300 bucks an oz? Is that normal or is that cop math? Or was the stuff I got just cheap crap? I honestly don't know. Can someone educate me on what pot is worth?

Someone should tell the State of Ohio, they are under the impression it is a 4th degree misdemeanor.

I know a guy that knows this stuff. $300 an oz for good weed is pretty standard. Small quantities (1/8ths) typically go for $50 in my neck of the wood (Asheville, NC). If one were looking for a whole pound of the stuff, I'd expect them to pay about $3600.

If this little bastard is really pulling a pound per plant consistently, Im jealous as shiat. Even with a yield strain I havent gotten near that one personally. Every time I see a grow house getting busted, I long for the days of owning a place to grow with impunity. It's the easiest money you'll ever make, work a 9-5 during the day for your guaranteed paycheck. When you get home, just make sure you're keeping soil moist when it dries and adhering to a nutrient schedule a kid could master. Never have to worry about customers, there are endless pot shops around here that are buying. You can even make expensive hash from the trash leaves left over at harvest that would otherwise be thrown away, and it's moderately acceptable to gram out (charge per gram as opposed to bulk discounts) hash for bigger profits.

/If you live in a state with medical cannabis, but don't smoke cannabis, realize that you too can fake an ailment for a pot prescription, and grow some several thousand dollar apiece tomatoes in your garage, perfectly legal
//Sleeping problems, anxiety, depression, back/limb pain, an ailment that won't have tons of documentation

It will take effect in Fall. Only signed the other day along with the Transportation bill.

Some legislators realized the penalties for possession were lower than paraphernalia, and that was stupid, so they changed it.

Shocking for Ohio... politicians making sense.

I went to college in Marietta in the early 90's. A friend of mine got stopped and they found his pot bowl. They gave him 30 days plus 6 months suspended. They said it would have been 3 years if he'd had weed.

Since the law no loner applies, as evidenced by unpunished banking fraud, those Ohio police are guilty of kidnapping, extortion and obstruction of economic opportunity.

Each officer and court official involved with the case in anyway should be arrested by a civilian force and held until fines are paid. A record should be kept of the officer's crimes and that record will reflect on the severity of their punishment when they are picked up for their next offense.

Since the police can barge into our homes. We can barge into theirs. We can even create our uniforms and wear a metal star on our chests. To make our effort just as "official" as theirs

If the police continue to enforce useless laws while ignoring banking crimes, the police are nothing more that thugs in blue shirts. A quick look history will provide a guideline for the blue shirt's future if they choose to protect white color theft while crushing local business.

So we're down to:

$350 an ounce
x 3 ounces (estimated per plant)
= $1,050 per plant
x 600 plants (est) assuming they all grew to maturity
= $630,000

Start subtracting out things like supplies, breakage, not every plant producing 3oz (the estimate above was 1-3oz, 1oz per plant drops the estimate to $210,000), salaries (could just be the "breakage" if the distributors are paid in bud)...

So he's grossing 6 figures. Low 6 figures. Not chump change, but hardly Scarface. (Not even Half Baked Scarface.)

// I wonder how much the dealer I lived with in college "made" according to cop math
// didn't grow, and he claimed not to earn much - enough to live on, and a little bit more
// something like $2k/month, but he was busy all the time
