So now he is just making up things to investigate?

I think there needs to be an investigation into whether Issa was a Sandusky accomplice.

House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-CA) has set his sights on other members of President Barack Obama's cabinet - sending all of them a letter asking whether government resources were used when they spoke in front of pro-Obama "super PACs." One problem: according to recent reports, none of them have made any such appearances. In fact, the pro-Obama "super PAC" known as Priorities USA Action has only had a single member of the Obama administration - senior adviser David Plouffe - appear at an event.

Laser-focused on Jobs, these Republicans.

"Aye, aye! It was that accursed white whale that razeed me; made a poor pegging lubber of me for ever and a day!" Then tossing both arms, with measureless imprecations he shouted out: "Aye, aye! and I'll chase him round Good Hope, and round the Horn, and round the Norway Maelstrom, and round perdition's flames before I give him up. And this is what ye have shipped for, men! to chase that white whale on both sides of land, and over all sides of earth, till he spouts black blood and rolls fin out."

I'm not saying it's a witch hunt, but Issa's taking cues not from Robert's Rules of Order, but the Malleus Malificarnum.

2012-07-17 10:42:56 AM
Has Darrel Issa spent any government money on this fishing expedition? Because it is clear the only purpose here is political.

They ought to reopen that investigation of arson for insurance fraud that Issa was suspected of in 1982. No telling what modern forensics plus federal subpoena power might uncover there.Link

"Issa's previous criticism of an Office of Special Counsel investigation which found that the George W. Bush administration dispatched cabinet members for political purposes during the 2006 elections."

Nice subject-verb agreement there. Issa should be investigating the widespread dissapearances of editorial staff across the country.

I wonder how much all these political games Issa is pulling is costing the taxpayers? Would it count as "fiscally conservative"?

Had a responsible Representative, interested in removing incompetence and corruption, investigated the "Fast and Furious" failure, responsible individuals within the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives may have actually been identified and fired. Instead, due to Representative Issa pursuing a conspiracy of dubious reality, nothing has been accomplished.

Shut up, Issa, you cock.

2012-07-17 12:20:32 PM
It seems that Republicans are always trying to impeach or investigate when a Democrat is in office. Clinton with Lewinsky (which admittidly he did lie but it was a BJ). Now this. Granted the Fast and Furious thing was stupid and whoever green lighted the idea needs a kick in the nuts, but how is getting pissy over losing doing any good.

The only Democrat investigation I cna think of would be Watergate which was actually a big deal.

Based on all I've read the major problems were with state DAs that didn't want to waste their time with small charges on gun possession, not with DEA. Not saying that DEA should be wiped out because they're a waste but they didn't make the lion's share of mistakes in this investigation.

Even worse, I see a sentence fragment. No subject and verb to agree. This is one of those typos that actually clouds the whole meaning of the article.

It wasn't so much "small charges", but rather that there were too many gun control politics in play in the investigation. The perspective was that a straw purchasing charge could only really stick with some kind of material evidence of intent, and that even if he went in and bought a hundred guns and resold them in the parking lot, that was just circumstantial. Even if they nailed some guy who was pretty clearly a straw purchaser (like the homeless guy who bought a .50 cal rifle), they didn't want to set the precedent that suspicion alone was enough to start bringing in bulk/expensive gun buyers.

They wanted to seem so far removed from gun control politics that their actual law enforcement was hampered.

I would actually support this completely. If they can get congress back, they should pulverize the republican establishment at every level of government with non-stop investigations and throw as many of them in prison as possible.

Fark these clowns. Use their own tactics against them. They're by far the dirtier party anyways (not that the democrats are angels).

Come to think of it, I haven't heard much about the F&F stuff lately in the news. Last I heard, they found Holder in contempt and that was it? Has anything new happened since? And did the contempt charge actually mean anything?

A willingness (or lack thereof) for cooperation should have been assessed fully prior to instructing the completion of suspicious firearm transfers that the sellers did not wish to complete.

So, basically, if you RTFA, he has now started an investigation into things that never happened based on media reports that were never written.

What do you think would happen to a regular person like you or I if we based our job performance on a series of delusions supported by our hallucinations?

Somehow I don't think we'd get a $174,000 a year salary, retirement and health benefits and all sorts of special perks and per diem cash for expenses. In fact, I'd expect to be committed.

You are aware of the actual committee ISSA is on right? The house has passed 30 bills related to the economy sitting on Reid's desk... So not sure the angle you are heading. Is it only value house work if rubber stamping democrat bills? The house no longer gets a say? The fact that Reid refuses to send house.bills even to committee should show you where the obstruction is.

The PR battle on this issue, for starters. The narrative as well. And it also appears that he has lost on the facts of the case. So, yes, he has succeeded in grandstanding and wasting government resources pursuing a nonsensical matter for purely political purposes, so you got that.
