Khazar-Khum: Undulation: Link

According to some sources (including the link above), the statements in the original article are not well supported. For one, there's clearly additional material attached to that bra which indicates this was probably a larger garment, so it's probably part of a kirtle. The underwear may be those of a man.

I'd be inclined to agree with my linked source, but there really seems to be additional information about these garments that was not provided in the original article. Their expert seems to know what she's talking about too... but then this is how archaeology works; you find things and then argue endlessly about their meaning.

Your source is pretty much spot-on. The "bra" is far longer than the Fail suggests, so a kirtle isn't unlikely.

The panties certainly look male, and are exactly like Durer's.

Women obviously wore *something* part of the month, which is why the sight of such unmentionables was consider disgusting and vulgar.

The panties in question were obviously used during menstruation; since they date from the 1400's, they are Obviously period peices.

dj_spanmaster: Beatrix Nutz, of Innsbruck University, who made the find, initially faced scepticism but radiocarbon-dating tests confirmed her suspicions.

Yep, she found them.
