"I just think it's shocking how many of these young people wind up in a prison and they get turned into hardcore criminals because they had a possession of a very small amount of controlled substance,"

Indeed. What else can I say, the man is right on.

Minister Robertson, although I disagree with you on many things, I am glad to see your continued participation in furthering freedom. Thank you for breaking with political expectancies and coming to the correct choice via critical thinking. This world would be a better place if others were to also challenge their own political beliefs and think with an open mind.

The only time a conservative changes his mind about anything is when his preferred policies harm him or a family member. Then he becomes a heterdox and not a moment before.

GAT_00: I like how someone who everyone is convinced is always wrong is suddenly definitely right when he says something you agree with.

Note: I'm not necessarily declaring judgement on this particular statement one way or another. This is simply an open question: if someone is wrong all the time, what are the odds that the time they are right is the time they agree with you?

Lansydyr: I'm all for legalization, even never having used any myself. But I found this part of the article funny:

And the second, which went up across from Mile High Stadium, featured a father asking for the regulation of legal marijuana to keep it out of his son's hands.

Because regulating alcohol has so successfully kept it out of children's hands?

Actually, it has. If you read any of the articles involving drug use among teens then you would know just how true this is. Most children say that it is easier to get Marijuana than it is to get cigarettes or alcohol.

Fluorescent Testicle: Is this the same Pat Robertson who said that 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina were God's response to abortion, gay people and atheists? Sure, he happens to be right in this case - stopped clock and all that - but the hero tag? REALLY?

In his defense, he was stoned out of his gourd when he said all of those things.

"It's time we stop locking up people for possession of marijuana."

"I really believe we should treat marijuana the way we treat beverage alcohol. I've never used marijuana and I don't intend to, but it's just one of those things that I think: this war on drugs hasn't succeeded."

~Pat Robertson.

Newark, N.J. Mayor Corry Booker has been a vocal in his criticisms of the war on drugs, calling it a failure and a policy that unfairly targets the black population.

"The war on drugs, while well-intentioned, has been a failure."

~Chris Christie.

Pat Robertson, Chris Christie and Corry Booker all agree on something?

And I agree with all of them?

*heads assplodes*

Gonna go lie down for a while.

Right after he dies of cancer.

Politics makes strange bedfellows. Robertson is influential to a certain demographic. If he's all for the same thing I'm for, I can work with that on that single issue. No problem there.

I'm just saying, if you have Pat Robertson on your side, you're wrong. Period. He's one of those people you never want supporting you.

I still think the guy is an awful person, but I do respect his argument and hope that it connects some people together on the issue enough to advance it. I'm sick of the stonewalling from pretty much everyone in power on this issue.

By God! You've hit upon two shocking truths!

1. When someone says someone is "right" it means you agree with them about that statement!
2. When somebody says someone is "wrong all the time" they are using hyperbole!

Quick - go write a book about semantics. The world desperately needs your insight.
