This strong, intelligent conservative has strong, intelligent conservatives quaking in their boots.

Hey Sarah- when your candidate is treading water and barely keeping afloat, your GOP leaders aren't going to throw him an anchor- that's the other sides job. The last thing the GOP wants is anything that reminds the middle how far off the reservation you've all gone.

"It's true I'm prohibited from doing some things," Palin told Newsweek, "but this is the first I've heard anyone suggest that as an excuse, er, reason to stay away from engaging in the presidential race. I'm quite confident Fox's top brass would never strip anyone of their First Amendment rights in this regard."

i'm not sure that's how the first amendment works, sarah

Um, had this woman never heard of NDA's, or even that the Constitution only protects you from the government from talking away your right to free speech.

I mean hell, I have so much confidential and proprietary information at my finger tips for my company, but I have no right to just blab it out to the world.

Oh, wait, this is Sarah Palin, America's most famous grifter of the 21st century.

My bad.

In her defense, she's just speaking in terms of what the current Supreme Court has interpreted the 1st Amendment to be.

/I can't believe I said "in her defense" in reference to Sarah Palin.

If that were the case, critics wouldn't need to pretend she said something else.

She was explaining Alaska's historical national security concerns relate to the fact it's so close to Russia you can see Russia from certain parts of Alaska. It's not objectionable at all, but sexists do not like minorities or women having conservative opinions, and for women conservatives, try to portray them as stupid, which in this case led to harmless jokes of a dingbat Palin saying she could see Russia from her house. Then idiots thought Palin actually said this.

Sigh.

That line is from Tina Fey as Sarah Palin on SNL. The fact that you could put quotes from Palin alongside quotes from Fey as Palin and have a hard time telling the difference speaks volumes about the former mayor of a township with a population of 7,000 and half-term governor of a state with less people than Staten Island.

2012-07-16 01:43:54 PM
I guess it is useless to point out that "I can see Russia from my house" was said by Tina Fey and not Sara Palin.

Not inviting Palin is about the only smart move Republicans have made this election year.

2012-07-16 01:44:44 PM
Why does TIKIMAN keep farking a fistful of chicken blood?

Is it some sort of ritual to the One God [AKA Mammon] of the GOP?

2012-07-16 01:46:14 PM
Sarah Palin was used as a tool to keep the GOP from fracturing.
That is no longer the problem. They now need to win over independents.

She's not good at that part, and so she's no longer useful.
If anything, she's a threat because she still holds sway over a not-small portion of their base.

They used her like a not-so-cheap whore. That should come as no surprise to anyone but her fans.

2012-07-16 01:46:15 PM

Arcanum: If that were the case, critics wouldn't need to pretend she said something else.

Um......no.

"I can see Russia from my porch!" is just a folksy humorous precis of "As Putin rears his head and comes into the air space of the United States of America, where- where do they go? It's Alaska. It's just right over the border."

At least "I can see Russia from my porch!" has subject/object agreement and doesn't sound like a phrase that was mangled in a "Will It Blend?" segment.

2012-07-16 01:46:29 PM

Oldiron_79: I guess it is useless to point out that "I can see Russia from my house" was said by Tina Fey and not Sara Palin.

Actual Quote:

"They're our next-door neighbors, and you can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska, from an island in Alaska".

She said that in response to whether or not she was a foreign policy expert.

So, while not retarded taken out of context, put it back in context and it's only slightly less retarded than the Fey quote.

Am I the only person that sees that picture, then the look on her face, then the strategic location of the flag in the foreground, and wonder if standing right behind her is an illegal Mexican slamming her doggy-style in the no-no hole so hard she'll spit corn bits for a week donchano?

That's my guess. If George Zimmerman is found guilty and Rick Scott pardons him before the convention in Tampa begins, he's guaranteed to be on the ticket (and there will be riots not seen since the early 90s in California, but that's a different discussion for a different thread)

Pretty useless to point out that her proximity to Russia was a stupid thing to talk about, and led to her being ridiculed and parodied.

2012-07-16 01:47:29 PM
Clueless. She doesn't seem to get that she's finished in GOP politics.
