I made the mistake of clicking an American Stinker link last week. I was greeted by 90's-era formatting, writing that would embarrass a fifth grader and enough butthurt to fill any large stadium, all the while never getting any salient point from the stupid blog outside of gaining an even greater awareness of just how childish, tortured logic fills the right-wing-o-sphere.

I'm sure the Republicans think it isn't fair that they've selected Romney and his inability to even come close to running a national campaign for the big chair while Obama's campaign team turns them into a running joke. Maybe they should try a do-over at their convention.

I'm also sure that Republicans think it isn't fair that reality doesn't mesh up with their policies. It is also clearly unfair that people are holding them responsible for their blatant attempts to crash the economy and tear the country to pieces just to get rid of the current president.

Romney's either a serial liar or a felon. Pick one. Hell, pick both--he could be a high achiever.

And where was "fair" Romney this weekend? Relaxing at his $8 million vacation home (which includes a $630,000 boat house) and gunning his speed boat. I'm sure most Americans can relate to that and think it's fair.

He has some tacky flag decorations on it, so that means it's un-American to say anything bad about it.

Also: totally unsure, but does the presumptive Republican Presidential nominee have any security detail paid for by our tax dollars? Just curious as to how much his vacations cost us as compared to the millions in debt each and every one of us are on the hook for every time President Obama even so much as thinks about leaving the White House.

These are often the same people who take the biggest risk to start and grow a business (think Steve Jobs, Bill Gates) and generate jobs. If their tax rates go up, there will be fewer jobs created.

I'm pretty sure that Bill Gates has an accountant that'll tell him how to structure his business so that paying employees is filed under 'costs' and not 'net taxable profit'. But hey, maybe the Stinker is trying to convince me that he'll look at his monthy income drop from 1 million to 750,000, decide that that's just too little to be worth the trouble, and go all Milton Adams on the Microsoft offices.

I once thought that Fark was biased against the right. I felt this way up until two or so months ago. But, when I went back and looked at it with more of an open eye, what I saw was that Fark was doing what they do on every tab: posting the most insane bullshiat someone submits. There is no pro or anti political ideology that Drew and his cohorts are trying to shove down our throats; all they are doing is posting the stories of people doing dumb shiat or having crazy ideas (like Birthers. What's a fella to think?

Ironic word choice.

A thinkin' man knows it's not Romney's wealth that's offensive, it's how he got/uses it. Vulture capitalism, crony capitalism, offshoring, questionable (but legal) practices, tax havens...all of this may be 100% legal, but it sticks in the craw of many thinking people that Romney thinks these advantages are freely available to everyone. "Why don't poor people just buy more money", as hilarious as it sounds as a mocking jpeg, really does seem to be how Romney views the poor.

A thinkin' man knows it's not a problem that a rich man wants to be president - we've had 30-35 of those (and all of them from the past 100 years, including the near sheriff). It's that a rich man - a fantastically wealthy man, in (or damned near) the .01% in terms of wealth - paints himself as a "man of the people" and is so ignorant of the fact that he has never been a member of the poorer classes that every time he tries to, it comes off as demeaning or downright insulting ("Haha! Poor people use garbage bags as ponchos!").

A thinkin' man knows that a man who changes his political positions based on who's asking the questions (or who's standing behind the question-asker) - and ignores his old positions; gone down the memory hole, and you're a communist libber-progressive socialist for even asking - doesn't deserve to lead a country. A man runs on his record, not away from it. (And before you start, try to think of a single political position 1994 Romney has in common with 2012 Romney. That's what I mean, not that one or two is different now.) That's got nothing to do with wealth.

So we'd love it if you became a thinking man. Any time you're ready to examine things beyond what's presented to you in easily-digestible form, we're ready to have a discussion.

Organizations like that need to put it into the title, because you would otherwise never guess it based on their publications and actions...

Another farker said recently that anytime you see the word "family" in the name of an organization, just take it out and substitute "bigot" and you'll have a far more accurate description. "Thinker" is for those too lazy to do it on their own, so they want the illusion that someone else has already "thought" out some talking points that reinforce their own point of view.

Your OP didn't really have a "conclusion" (other than "Obama bad", but I inferred that). You claimed that Obama attacked Romney simply because he's rich, so I tried to point out that that an oversimplified version of the line of attack - so oversimplified as to miss the whole point.

It's not that Romney is rich, it's how that fact gels with the rest of his campaign - his ignorance of how shady his version of capitalism is (though legal) and his inability to connect with people (the people he so desperately tries to connect with, to establish himself as demographically aligned with - with hilarious "garbage-bag poncho" results). There's also Mitt's contention that his business practices are perfectly aligned with free marketry and are of course how every business is/should be run, but reasonable people can disagree over that one.

His inartful flip-floppery (unabashedly and without meaningful explanation changing opinions to suit audiences) doesn't help, but that's unconnected to his wealth.

For that? I wouldn't call you a tard. Maybe "starry-eyed idealist", but that's not tardy.

I'll add that if I had to wait to vote FOR a candidate, as opposed to voting AGAINST one, I'd have to wait until I filed the paperwork to run myself for office. That's the nature of voting - no candidate will align 100% with my philosophy except me. But that's also a bit oversimplified.

In 2004, my vote was 90% anti-Bush, and only 8% or so pro-Kerry (the remaining 2% was my primary support for Gephardt). I think in 2008, it was 75% prObama, 25% anti-McCain, though everyone and their cousin knew McCain would lose that one. I had (and have) my misgivings about Obama, but he's still mostly aligned with my politics.
