Ooh that's really groovy, I would have been taking snaps too. I'm a cloud watcher.

A couple of those look like Mt. Fuji.

I'm just north of Richmond, and the thunderstorms are getting ridiculous. We've had storms daily since that fiasco two weeks ago.

I took this at a McDonald's in Ashland last week:

img856.imageshack.us

They roll in and out in under 20 minutes, but the wind and rain are so bad the power will usually kick out for an hour or so.

I most certainly did, at Glenside drive and Staples Mill road. I was on the way to the grocery store, saw the clouds and was all like... "oh my"

took three pics and emailed them to the wife at home who is from the Midwest and asked her if we were going to die.

I drove through all that yesterday going from Rocky Mount NC to Baltimore.
I was passing exit 74 when traffic slowed and we passed in the two left lanes, a car sitting in the middle of the two *right* lanes, not moving but pointed the wrong way on the curve just before exit 75. The d-bag has NJ plates and I can only imagine that he was pausing to pull this BVDs out the crack of his butt. It was either hydroplane or slick-at-the-first-rain and then WOOP .....360s.

(much like this..)

We had some rain in The Northern Virginia yesterday afternoon, not so much, but the sky was black as Hattie McDaniel's backside to the south. Then, driving up I-395, I saw a double rainbow, it was full on, and I still don't know what it meant. This was about 7 PM and the colors were so vibrant, even the violet was standing out and you don't usually see that.

During thunderstorms my neighbors, husband and I gather on the front porch to watch what we can (can't see much of the sky in my neighborhood) and drink wine, and yesterday was no different. We were enjoying things until lightning hit something VERY close by, it sounded like an explosion. You never saw four people dive back into their condos so fast.

/need to post Storm of Doom video

I stated once before in a thread about sandstorms in Iraq,

If I saw something like that I would have "taken a stand" and made myself look excruciatingly stupid by stoping my car and firing any gun I had into it, when gun is empty, start throwing rocks, when out of rocks, pose as the cliche mouse with middle finger extended.

/actuality would be me driving away as fast as I could. But I do like the thought that I would do what I stated above.

/ITG here.

Yeah, the storms have been crazy lately. Our neighborhood out near Broad and Hungary still hasn't been fully cleaned up from the first derecho two weeks ago. Tons of trees down, fences & houses damaged, and generally crap everywhere.

\Yes, there are still two trees down in my yard.
\\Lucky 'cause the house didn't get hit, but pissed that the contractors haven't shown up yet to remove them.

I was further north, driving from Maryland to New Jersey last night. Early on in the trip it looked like one of those "I like where this thread is going" pictures. As we got closer to the Maryland-Delaware border it was like being in the middle of a malfunctioning strobe light. Also had some crazy rain, both there and in Jersey.

4.67 inches of rain in my neighborhood yesterday. Austin is starting to ease up on watering restrictions.

Actually if you're crazy enough to stick around during storms by all means PLEASE TAKE PICTURES, record time and place as well as these are quite invaluable to meteorologists.

I was coaching a baseball game at Point of Rocks Park yesterday and watched the storm slip North and stall at the junction of the James & Appomattox Rivers. The lightning was spectacular. Didn't get to see the cool clouds, though.
