Quite a career she had. The obits today really filled in the story of her life--I had no idea about the family squabbles and financial hurt. Tough to see the toast of Broadway and Hollywood getting by on Social Security (which she of course started "paying into" from the very instigation of the program).

Younger Farkers, if you've never heard of her, take a moment and search out a YouTube clip or two, OK?

My intro to her was in one of my parents' favorite films, "High Society."

Isn't Richard Stallman one of her sons?

Never mind, just looked it up, her son is a different public computer nerd, not Stallman.

When I first saw her name mentioned I immediately thought of her reporter role in High Society. Excellent movie in so many ways, and her duet with Frank is worth the price of admission alone.
