(Fox Sports)   Jason Kidd arrested on DWI charges after his SUV hit a tree last night. It's very suprising, as with only 7 layups over 1,300+ minutes last season, it doesn't seem like he drives that often anymore   (msn.foxsports.com) divider line 26

Gotta love the Knicks - hey, let's sign a bunch of washed up vets and let our only two young talents go! Because we're totally going to be serious contenders the next three years!

A very classy statement from Carmelo, too.

Because if anyone knows about not being worth his contract, it's Carmelo Anthony.

I love thinking back to the "LeBron vs Melo" arguments prior to both of them being drafted.

With career earnings of over $184,000,000 (and counting) you'd think he would have made the passing acquaintance of a taxi/limo service/buddy he pays $100,000 a year to so he can be driven around and drink in peace, right?

/zero sympathy

I love Knick fans' backpedaling on Lin. Also loved Screamin' A. Smith calling him a mercenary

The ironic icing on the cake is that Kidd's SUV rammed into a telephone pole knocking out phone and cable service for a couple of hours. Which cable service did it knock out? Cablevision, which happens to be owned by this guy who also owns the Knicks.

Agreed. He should have let JR Smith say it and take the high road.

I'm pretty sure no one would've picked anyone over LeBron that draft. I think your memory is clouded.

Possibly. I recall there being a huge amount of buzz regarding the both of them (and the now-legendary 2003 draft class), and it might not have been "Which will be better" but there were definitely comparisons and parallels being drawn between the two, given their backgrounds.

The only thing I can find directly referencing Melo v LeBron pre-draft is a few comments talking about a Skip Bayless segment where he apparently claimed he'd rather have Melo, but 1. I can't find the clip, and 2. It's Skip Bayless.

Melo was pretty damned good, though. He easily could have been RoY over LeBron and I think he was one and done in college so it's not like he was coming into the league at 22. Melo just never bothered to learn how to play defense.
