I'm sure the 8 people on that train were shocked and appalled.

/Don't understand the hate for Amtrak
//Have ridden it very comfortably several times

Subby obviously didn't read the article:

Local lore states that this famously unofficial event was born when a patron at Mugs Away Saloon, situated on Camino Capistrano about 50 yards from the tracks, vowed to buy a drink for anyone who'd cross the street and moon a train.

As someone who rode it to work for 7 years, part of the hate is because they don't run on farking time and they don't seem to care when they don't.

It's too damned expensive to ride. Amtrak is way more pricer than an airplane, takes longer, and doesn't go to all of the destinations that you want. Yeah I know that Amtrak supplements their rail lines with diesel busses to connect cities, but why wouldn't I just ride Greyhound to begin with in that case?

The thing that I don't understand is why Amtrak doesn't ship more freight to help offset passenger costs. Greyhound does it, and passenger trains used to do it before Amtrak.

I would honestly prefer to travel by rail compared to other modes of travel, but over $400 and two days of travel is too much for my wallet when a plane ticket is only slightly less and gets me to my destination within hours.

They did for a while the problem is that they operate on privately owned freight lines. This obviously did not go over well with the people that own those lines.

I can't believe no one has commented on the link's headline yet:

Revelers bare bottoms at trains while deputies watch

Until 4 years ago, if you rode the Amtrack from Delaware to DC there was always a risk you would run into Joe Biden. Most people are just not willing to take that risk.

After 30 years, just let them go. They're gone.

I was expecting the article to be about a bunch of drunk dudes.

I was pleasantly disappointed!

I've been there and done that. I heard one time the engineer mooned back.

Expected an article about an act of revenge-by-mooning for a friend killed by a train. Guess this is better. Sorta.

/Who puts "mooning" on a bucket list?
