And it seems she's also a Ron Paul fan and a homeschooler. She appears associated with the Liberty Candidate movement, who appear to be a faction who don't like the Neocon elements in the main Tea Party; I'm not sure if they'd properly consider themselves part of the Tea Party movement, or not.

But wow, whadda whackjob.

FTFA: She learned this fact just recently, she said, and has come to believe it after months of research.

See? This is why we don't click WND links.

You need to mention that she's a Republican in the headline, subby.
Rule of thumb is that if a negative headline references a "politician" without specifying a party affiliation, it means they're a Democrat.

Iowa state Senate candidate Randi Shannon (R) "has ended her campaign and instead declared herself a U.S. Senator for the state of Iowa," the Des Moines Register reports.

Well knock me over with a feather.

Shannon "argued that the legitimate federal government of the United States was replaced by illegitimate 'corporate' government in 1871 and has been operating since then in violation of the U.S. Constitution. She learned this fact just recently, she said, and has come to believe it after months of research."

"Dropping her bid for state office was a rejection of that illegitimate government. Now, she said she has been appointed to serve as a U.S. senator in the recently revived and constitutionally legitimate Republic of the United States of America."

Someone please tell this dipshiat that women didn't have the right to vote in 1871, nor the right to run for Senator.

I love these tidbits from your links:
LibertyCandidates.com is a not-for-profit* non-partisan organization
*Unofficially not-for-profit: we make no profit from any donations that go to candidates. If you'd like to support the site and our mission, please consider a donation (see right column) or placing an ad on the site. $20/month. You can't beat that!!!

Also, they're "non-partisan," but their stated mission is to get rid of RINOs.

Then there's the whole "original government" thing, where they have 'American Rangers.' If you got pulled over by the police, you just call a Ranger to come over, he'll tell the cop that he's violating his oath and the cop will have to let you go!

Totally not crazy.

You all missed the last sentence or something?

"I would say that if they do their research, what we have was the real deal," she said, referring to the time period before the 14th Amendment. "What we have now isn't the real deal."

Because we all know, the real American deal fell apart when we let blacks have, ugh, citizenship.

I wonder if this Republic of the USA is actually a Klan group?
