I'm like someone from Oman, apparently. Smack-dab in the middle of my normal range. Lower BMI than 78% of US women in my age bracket - but how the hell can you compare a 29-year old to a 15-year old? Seems a bit ridiculous.

2012-07-14 12:30:58 PM
23bmi

lower BMI then 87% of US 30-44

Apparently i'd fit right in on the average in Papua New Guinea

"You have a lower BMI than 68% of males aged 45-59 in your country."

Woo!!

"You have a higher BMI than 69% of males aged 45-59 in the world."

Oh.
Aw. :/

It does seem a fairly large range. But I'm fairly close to my weight when i was 30(40 now)

You have a lower BMI than 75% of females aged 30-44 in your country
You have a lower BMI than 59% of females aged 30-44 in the world
If everyone in the world had the same BMI as you, it would remove 12,657,935 tonnes from the total weight of the world's population
You're most like someone from Rwanda*
* Compared with other females aged 30-44 in Rwanda

In the past few years I've gained 20+ pounds and feel out of shape (which I still am, wouldn't hurt to do some exercise). This made me feel better.

2012-07-14 12:35:31 PM
Cripes, Fark, wtf, are you trying to drive me to depression today?

I'm of Irish stock, so my dick must be small.

I have a beard, so women will find me less attractive.

And now:
"You have a lower BMI than 63% of males aged 30-44 in your country" - Oh, wait, woohoo!
"You have a higher BMI than 75% of males aged 30-44 in the world" - D'oh!

Apparently I'm the fattest man in the world in my age bracket:

"You have a higher BMI than 100% of males aged 30-44 in the world"

But I'm a male aged 30-44 in the world, so I have a higher BMI than myself?

I think I need to head to the nearest Walmart to verify this finding. Also, to eat some deep-fried lard, and everything else that gets near my mouth.

2012-07-14 12:42:32 PM
6'3" 260lbs with a 53" chest and a 42" waist. According to this, I"m fatter then 89% men 15-29 in the US. and 100% of 15-29 year olds in the world. I always hated these BMI charts, as they never take my body type into consideration.

2012-07-14 12:42:33 PM
24 BMI

44 year old male, 6' 3", 195 pounds

I am most likely Algerian.

2012-07-14 12:43:47 PM
Misleading calculator is misleading. Notice the don't take body type into their calculation? So a bodybuilder, that is 5' 10" and weighs 250 lbs with 0% body fat, would be considered "obese" according to this.

2012-07-14 12:44:03 PM
Confused. How can I be below average BMI (both country and world), yet "If everyone in the world had the same BMI as you, it would add 2,455,498 tonnes to the total weight of the world's population"?

I would be more worried about the fact that despite the age range including the majority of teenage girls, you've still got a lower BMI that 78% of them.

/Not worried for YOU, necessarily

It doesn't say anything about fat it compares your BMI to the population in your country and the world and tells you if you are higher or lower than average.

You have a lower BMI than 84% of females aged 30-44 in your country

Just confirming that I need to gain some weight if I plan to ever buy a pair of pants again in this country. Goddamn fatties. If my inseam were my waist size I'd be just fine, however.

You have a higher BMI than 55% of males aged 15-29 in your country

You have a higher BMI than 92% of males aged 15-29 in the world

I just can't believe that being overweight according to BMI is higher than 55% of the US males around my age - the mean BMI of 27.11 seems off... until I realize that the range starts at age 15. Also, the rest of the world is confirmed for girly men.

Agreed. World class athletes shouldn't use BMI. For the average person it is a pretty good estimate.

It is definitely weird - and I was shocked, honestly, to have a lower BMI than 78% of Americans in my age bracket, because I'm not tiny. I'm actively trying to lose another ten pounds right now, just to feel more confident about myself - I'm dieting and doing hot yoga 3x a week. It's a pain in the ass but I'm feeling healthier. I'm sick of not liking what I see in the mirror, so to think that 78% of women my age have a higher BMI? I don't know... it's a reality check and it makes me feel kinda good about myself, but it's also troubling.

/5'9", 155lbs. BMI of 23, according to this.
// Want to be 145-150. Was 120 in high school but underweight. Now I have womanly hips.

Did you know?
If everyone in the world had the same BMI as you, it would add 68,899,702 tonnes tothe total weight of the world's population
Very strange, since I'm only about 7 lbs. above my competitive bodyweight?
My abdominals, intercostals, and serratus are clearly visible w/o flexing and my entire body is roadmapped with veins?? What the Fark?
