Most generally, the term refers to any type of big cat with a black coat - though the only scientifically recognised definitions are a black leopard and a black jaguar.

So you use a term through the whole article that you know is vague, make the effort to explain that, but can't be bothered to actually mention whether these particular examples are leopards or jaguars?

These are leopards. You can totally tell by the pixels...I mean rosettes.

These are leopards. You can totally tell by the pixels...I mean rosettes.

You've got better a better eye for those things than I if you can distinguish jaguar rosettes from leopard rosettes on a melanistic juvenile.
