More like a bottle of Pabst and two attention whores.

2012-07-14 01:59:49 AM
A cheap hooker, subby.

2012-07-14 02:19:01 AM
Oh c'mon you guys. I'd give it a box of wine and a grilled cheese.

2012-07-14 02:39:43 AM
Are you trying to run the price of hookers up around here?!?

2012-07-14 06:04:50 AM
Woah. We're drinking wine out of bottles now? This place is getting fancy.... Almost too fancy if you ask me.

2012-07-14 07:48:54 AM
Like I'd want to be in a community with you losers.

2012-07-14 08:10:57 AM
Can I get some pics and a price list for this hooker?

2012-07-14 08:15:58 AM
A live hooker? That might be an overvaluation.

No worries! The wine's coming out of the hooker!

2012-07-14 08:29:47 AM
It's hookers AND blow.

Don't forget the blow, subby.

2012-07-14 08:31:54 AM
I only snort my blow off a dead hooker's ass. What are dead hookers worth these days?

On the off chance that anyone feels like being serious for half a second, has Fark ever been considered for an IPO? Has Drew turned down all the millions?

GrablesDaughter adds at least a Dom Perignon to our value...but the rest of us are worth maybe a swig of Pibb

But, as many Digg users quickly discovered, new gangs of gatekeepers kept a tight grip on the site's story flow. These guys played the Digg system, often with a mix of social and monetary motives, and Digg never figured out how to incorporate their power users into their community without giving them all the power.

Its almost as though no large site with a thriving organic community was ever bought and monetized badly, resulting in the destruction of the original value to the original community.

Cripes, where's this author been. This has been the single defining element of social use of the internet for over 20 yrs. Forums get good, someone cashes in, new owners put up ads and change everything, and forums get abandoned. Circle of life, Simba.

Drew's Crew has figured out that its more fun to keep ownership and drink Makers Mark every day for the next 20 yrs, than to sell out, buy a bottle of $10,000 Talisker, and then have to find another job.

Drew seems to have figured out you will piss off your community if you spring too many changes all at once, and as long as stuff's working don't mess it up.

Its kind of a unique philosophy, and lets Drew do plenty of monetizing as long as it looks and feels mostly the same, or change happens so slowly nobody notices much.

Just my 10 yrs on fark .02 cents commentary. I've only met Drew once.

It is definitely unique, and it works. Whatever is done at the backend doesn't matter to the user. teh user experience is what counts, and despite all the small modifications and methods to monetize the site so it pays for itself and Drew's various addictions, it still does the same thing; aggregate news with a smattering of humour and attempted sarcasm from its members. I've yet to laugh. Although GD in a bikini did once give me a semi.

/Never met Drew.

Could you imagine trying to target market to Fark's community based on the comments? About the only things I could pin down would be shows that ran for under three seasons, movies that mention rape twice and lots of red hair dye.

I know who the hooker is, but who is a bottle of cheap wine?

Fark is worth even more to the geriatrics now with this easy-to-read, double sized font. Now you can keep up with the news your grandchildren will find interesting with new Fark!

Fark: The Movie ?

Probably would have to be a road trip movie of trying to get to a Fark Party showing several dozen memes along the way.

I used to read Digg at work all the time, until for some reason a lot of stories related to Two Girls One Cup kept appearing as the top articles. It was ridiculous so I just dropped Digg. It was like they couldn't vote up any other stories.

The site redesign at Digg really didn't affect me because I didn't notice it.

Cross country road trip. 30 Fark Parties in 30 days. I'm thinking a combination of The Hangover, Planes Trains and Automobiles and Date Night.

Digg was great for a while, because of tech and neato stuff. Then it just blew up into reddit, and the news always took 24-36 hours to hit main page, and the only way to get anything done was like the same guy 90000 times, to get that story on the main page 5 times a week. Digg was slower than CNN at one point. I just said "fark it, I'm sticking with the oligarchical dictatorship that is the Fark approval process."

A number of us are home brewers and home distillers, so add a good many gallons of hooch to the list of assets.

2012-07-14 03:35:11 PM
So this means Fark is worth, what, two bottles of cheap wine and a hooker?

I'd have said a bag of Cheetos and a stolen WiFi connection.

Pretty much what I thought. If you can make $10k-$100k a month let it ride. And save plenty of those pennies so you have something to fall back on until you find something else if this goes tits up. I'd love to have an idea as clever as this sort of message board, but I'd just be repeating someone else.

Maybe I could start a Christian themed version of Fark. I'm a strict atheist but I'm not above milking the religious.

/Ah, Drew farking sold out and has pop-ups survey thingies.
//Hint hint, that's one of the things that make people stop clicking on certain site links.

Subby, I will have you know that I have at least $3 in change in my car and an autographed Anne Rice book that I won in a raffle. So I am sure you are vastly undervaluing Fark's community! You should really apologize to Drew.

2012-07-14 09:15:47 PM
By "wine," you mean MD 20/20, right?

The Blue Raspberry variety is da bomb, yo.

2012-07-14 09:32:17 PM
I've got a buck twenty-five in change, and a used condom.

Take it or leave it.

2012-07-14 10:25:09 PM
It's not worth your credit card number and $5 per month.
So, yeah.
2 bottles of Two Buck Chuck and used dead hooker sounds about right.

2012-07-15 12:17:14 AM
If there's a cheap hooker in/near Lexington KY reading this I'll spring for pricier wine than I buy for myself. Though Hidden Canyon Maalbec-Syrah from Argentina really is quite nice and it's only $3 at the Likka Bahn Express across de street.

Though Farkettes who'll do it for free are even more welcome, and I'll even throw in a blindfold. Trust me, you'll need it.

Damn I'm bad tonight, trolling Fark for company. What do I have to do to get euthanized around here?

2012-07-15 01:09:11 AM
I owe about eight hundred grand so I'm no help at all.

2012-07-15 01:50:57 AM
I'm thinking a shot of Majorska and a roach or two.

/The bugs, that is, not the green stuff.
