this "study" only had 76 participants, didn't detail its control group, how it selected participants, did not control for gender.... well, i could go on. It looks more like the "studies" we did in undergrad (with low sample size and only mediocre control of variables.) The difference of course was that those studies were more to teach the process of doing research, and this one is apparently being published.

that may all be well & good, but it doesn't make the headline any less true.

/granted, experienced gamers can be raging douches as well so...

Holy fark.

Maybe the hardcore gamers just aren't as concerned about personal hygiene?

inner ted: that may all be well & good, but it doesn't make the headline any less true.

wait what? the headline is obviously a joke... unless you think noob gamers really do launch into shakespeare inspired soliloquys when they get killed?

Soliloquy while being ganked?

AKA RPers.

Ha! A lot you know. Hardcore gamers don't have any personal hygiene habits.

Yah I'm kind of thinking "inexperienced gamer" translates to 'normal person'. Notice how they omitted what the 'experienced players' picked? I'm guessing it was Pony swag.

enemies burn and XP double?

Anyways, yeah this study makes zero sense and has no merit. And Macbeth as a whole is kind of crappy IMO. At least the the donald sutherland version was. I didn't think this was going to be about cleaning products but more of a players don't show drive without their wife telling them what to do thinger

Yeah, and all this rap music is ruining our schools!

I will never understand how it can be immoral to play a violent video game.

"Oh look at that dead pixel!"

how is it any different than any other medium with violence?

2012-07-13 05:37:12 PM
Every now and then my wife will catch a particularly violent moment when I am playing a game. Like a knife kill in BF3 or my head getting chainsawed off in resident evil 4. Sometimes she is shocked pretty bad and my initial reaction is 'really? Over something so minor?' Of course after a moment i reflect that yeah it is pretty gruesome and maybe i shouldn't be so casual about it.

My co-workers have mentioned how "colorful" I get on the mic when I am killed in MW3.

Maybe the inexperienced gamers were more likely to notice that their crotches had turned into damp regions of sweat-stink and their mouths had become cesspits of cigarette-scented crusts of Mountain Dew and Cheeto paste after 12 hours.

"Out, damned spot," from Shakespeare's Macbeth, resonates with these recent findings which link cleanliness and morality in violent video games.

This article reads like Mad Libs

When I play a game I'm not experienced with, I tend to sweat a lot.
When I play one I do regularly, I'm not stressed because I already know how it works - no sweat.

And I image if I were covered in sweat, I might be more likely to pick out soap than at other times.

Useless study is useless.

If there's anything that would actually improve the online gaming experience it would be classically inspired taunting

"From hell's heart I teabag thee. For hate's sake I camp my last breath at thee"

Video Games: Full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

I'd like to propose that violent video games take place in dirtier environments than non-violent games, and therefore the player feels the need to bathe.

Little known fact: Macbeth murdered Duncan because Duncan teabagged him at the feast.

This article is bias, Nintendo doesn't make super violent video games, and have to take down the competition, so they send their guy.

Oh my goodness, if someone made a Community mod for Mass Effect 3 I might even look at it again. I didn't even bother to see the shiat they came up with as a "epilogue." What a terrible burning end to a good series, and my biggest problem wasn't with the ending.

Well, I don't know about the show without Harmon, but they got renewed for a shortened season. Maybe there's time to fix that.

Ha! I was talking about Mass Effect in the last 2 sentences, not Community! I love the show and hope it'll retain most of its charm or go away quickly.
