If the jury's still out on that, justice really is blind

No, no, he's a douchebag.

Ashley Cole and others defended him well in court, and saving his arse-just like they did on pitch!

My British in-laws say he comes from a family of arseholes and gypsies. Or something like that. Can't clearly remember now, we were drinking pretty heavily. Not good people, basically, and the apple didn't fall too far from the tree. So I will go with: still a douche.

So admitting to a racist remark means he's clear of racial abuse. Makes sense.

/Not.

He's a douche bag, not a racist douchebag. I doubt he'd be getting a black guy to testify for him if he were racist.

It was Ashley Cole who backed him up. A man who would be the biggest douchebag on the team if not for Terry. In Cole's autobiography he said he almost crashed his car because he was so upset that Arsnel only offered him £50,000 per week.

So either Ashley Cole is black and doesn't care if his teammate and captain are racist, or Ashley is black and doesn't think his teammate is racist. Douchebaggery has nothing to do with it, and yes they are both insufferable douchebags.

As an American who only has the vaguest knowledge of soccer personalities, it seems like pretty much every English (actually, ANY foreign) footballer is a douchebag. Yes/no?

I wouldn't say it's any worse than any other sport, American or otherwise. Famous athletes seem to have a high douchebag to nice guy ratio.

The story is that he thought the other guy accused him of making a racist remark and repeated the remark as something along the lines of, "Did that guy say I called him a [redacted]?" and that's what was caught on tape.

If I recall, he was "trembling with anger" he was so upset about it.

To be fair, he has previous as he was caught on camera calling Carlos Tevez an "argie coont" in the 2008 Champions League Final, then spat at him. But to be honest, I don't think Terry is actually racist. He's just really, really, really farking stupid

I get the "coont" part... but what is an "argie"? Someone from Argentina? Is that a negative connotation?

/You folks are just on a completely higher level of swearing than we are in the states.
//trying to think of a way that I could possibly slip the word "argie" into a conversation.

Black coont Terrycloth: a love story

A philandering doucheface proves he's not racist by making tender love to the best left back in the world

I know this will be controversial. There is a lot of debate about who the best LB is.

I hope you enjoy this commentary on racism in the UK from a native of Georgia, USA.

More seriously, since Falklands I, the tabloids here have enjoyed mocking Argentines. It's a good hot-button for the poorly educated underclass who have jobs driving white Transit vans all over the nation.

Fifty Shades of Terry?

I honestly don't think he's racist. I just think he's the kind of person who will use whatever leverage he has to insult you in the most vicious possible way if you piss him off.

Don't they have the First Amendment in jolly old England?

Americans have a constitutionally protected right to be racist.

I'm pretty sure the jury delivered that verdict ages ago

yeah, it is someone from Argentina, but you don't really need to preface "coont" with "argie" really, and argie has slipped into the same lexicon as "paki" (from Pakistan) as a word which is kinda racist just because... I don't really know why. Also, The Falklands

Ashley Cole is such a self centred dickhead i trust him less than Terry's own lawyer. Now if someone on the Chelsea team with some personal integrity like Drogba said Terry wasn't racist i would believe him.

And as for Cole, well he did marry Cheryl, so i dont think he has a problem with assosciating with rascists...
And John Terry parks in handicap spaces...
