cowsspinach: So that's what 70 looks like? Not bad at all. I'll gladly get off Harrison's plane!

/Also, Patrick Stewart's plane

No kidding. Man looks like he stopped aging at 50.

As previously noted, isn't it soo cool that Patrick Stewart's birthday is also today?
This should be Iconic Heroes Day, at least in American cinema.

It's almost as cool as the way Mark Twain and WInston Churchill share a birthday (Nov.30).

Makes me think there's something to this astrology thing.

No, no, no. The line is: But then again, who does?

bdub77: What people fail to realize is that Han is still the scoundrel. Look, Greedo fired a warning shot. He was five feet away from Solo, there's no way he missed on accident. He wanted Han to know he could kill him right then and there, if he wanted. He gave him a chance. Han though, rogue he is, would have none of it, and fired the fatal shot.

Weep for Greedo - he was only doing his job. He pleaded with him. He gave him options. And he died for it. And his little boy, Q-Bert, who had been kidnapped and held as a ransom by Jabba the Hut, lost his father and ultimately committed suicide off by jumping the side of the dark Pits of Tatooine.

It's a very sad story, people.

I hate you

2012-07-13 01:11:16 PM
I just read his biography.

Christopher Walken was the first choice to play Han Solo???

Now THAT would have been a major difference, and very very cool...

(But Ford was GREAT as Solo).

/One of my favorite, if not the fave actor of all time, Is Ford

After watching a bunch of Big Bang episodes, with Leonard Nemoy being the most recent guest star, and Stan Lee having also been on the show, I feel bad for all of the sci fi/ comic book nerds.

In the next 10 we're probably going to see a bunch of them drop dead. Shatner, Nemoy, Stan Lee, Steve Ditko, James Earl Jones (the real Darth Vader). Patrick Stewart and Ford will be pushing 80 by the end of the decade .. These poor fanboys are going to go into deep shock.

Great move, but how TF does someone get to post an entire Hollywood movie to Youtube and not get it shut down?

I posted a viddy of my kid at a fair that just happened to have some copyrighted music playing in the background, and I got flagged for it.

Then maybe they should consider the question of why there hasn't been much sci-fi of any value produced in the last couple of farking decades. It should be a clue.

I've always loved Harrison Ford. In 1977, when I was five, I saw Star Wars for the first time. My dad picked me up from my mom's and we went to the movies. The prior weekend, we saw Close Encounters of the Third Kind.

It's an absolute sin to accept the decadence of obsolescence. Why do things get worse and worse? They don't have to. They could get better and better. We accept that things fall apart.

Mosquito Coast doesn't get enough mention. Great movie.

Rare shows like Firefly are the brilliant exceptions to the rule that all sci-fi must be bland derivative crap that takes no chances, and only generated by a very small group of entrenched 'sci-fi establishment'.

As such, anything new usually incurs the wrath of that establishment and gets killed immediately. B5 was a great example of all the knives coming out to kill a show despite its popularity, but Firefly had a similar fate in many ways - the airing times and order being a conspicuous one.
