WTF? Seriously, should he go around like Bob Dole and refer to himself in the third person? Other than Dole, what sane person does that?

How about this, if we're derping: during the NAACP speech, Romney used "I" 71 times but "me" a mere seven. The former is narcissistic, but the latter reflects someone who lacks confidence. Do we really want a president unsure of himself?

OK let's start a list of candidates for USA President that weren't narcissistic. I'll start ...

umm.... er.... help me out here...

Zerochance: Every single POTUS has to have a healthy ego. It's intrinsic to the position...

There is different between a strong, healthy ego and Narcissistic Personality Disorder.. A President suffering from NPD is likely to have grandiose delusions, like Obamacare, for example. That's not good.

Ah, another story about how the black president is "cocky". Nice.

I'm sure there's no historical precedent for people calling black males cocky or narcissistic that relates to racism at all. It's all just honest coincidence from concern third parties.

This is spin. Narcissism and NPD are different things. The article claims narcissism and not NPD. NPD appears to be SkinnyHead's "professional" opinion.

Isn't being a narcissist the beginning to any thought process that ends with "You know what? I think I *am* qualified to be leader of the free world?"

He should go with second-person. Really mess with people.

Not at all., Romney doesn't display a grandiose sense of self-importance. He doesn't have grandiose delusions (like Obamacare). He doesn't require excessive admiration. He doesn't have a sense of entitlement, i.e.,unreasonable expectations of especially favorable treatment or automatic compliance with his expectations. He doesn't lack empathy. He doesn't shows arrogant, haughty behaviors or attitudes. Those are all Obama traits.

Unrealistic expectations based on grandiose delusions don't do anyone any good. Those type of expectations should be lowered.

Dole did that like two or three times, and it was in referencing hypothetical choices from the perspective of the voter (eg. "you have to chose between voting for Bob Dole or voting for Bill Clinton"). It was a little strange, but not a pathological behavior by any means. It does sound hilarious and unhinged when used in everyday speech, which is why Norm McDonald latched onto it and used it repeatedly. It was a Norm McDonald trait, but he did it really well which is why we remember it as a Bob Dole trait.

Zerochance: You know what, I'm going to be that libtard that says "it's racism" and go ahead and attribute this kind of criticism to the fact that Obama is black.

Every single POTUS has to have a healthy ego. It's intrinsic to the position. You have to be a narcissist to a decent level to decide that you are the most fit person to be leader of the free world and arguably the most powerful person on earth. Even if Obama is guilty of greater arrogance than your average POTUS, at least he has the historical weight of being the first black president to back it up. If I was the first of my kind to be President, I'd walk around thinking I have a 20-inch cock too.

People that criticize Obama for perceived arrogance or narcissism are simply people that are not used to to seeing non-subservient black people in positions of power. That's it. Colin Powell had a deep sense of humility to his accomplishments and he was thrown under the bus. Condoleeza Rice is a sycophant for her administration. Obama is the first prominent black politician that I can remember to wield his power without apologizing for it, and it pisses off the republitard brigade.

Pretty much this.

It's a throwback to slave days. When a slave "made it up to the big house", it was a sign of "prosperity" and cause for pride.

But don't you dare call them racist.

I think you have to be a bit of a narcissist to run for President of the United States. Saying "I'm the most qualified person to lead a country of 300 million people" isn't something humble people do.

We need a President with the sort of deep humility that Mitt Romney has exemplified all his life.

I love this picture of the president. It's nothing more than snapshot of one second in time in which he briefly adopted a pose which could be interpreted as "arrogant," "snooty," etc. Photograph anyone enough times and you're bound to come up with a thousand just like it.

But Republicans actually think he walks around like that, making people kneel and kiss his ring before they can address him, as "the All-Powerful and Magnificent Muslim Black Man in Chief." They attach all their fears to this image like they're participating in a two-minute hate, and they trot it around expecting others to see the light about the president's "arrogance" as soon as they see it. It's simultaneously the dumbest, funniest and saddest thing I have ever seen.
