machoprogrammer: whidbey: I don't have to use Google. It isn't on me to prove (or disprove) your ridiculous claims.

And no, I'm not impressed by some stupid blog post, and your other "citation" doesn't back up your point that the "RIAA/MPAA pays him " to do jack sh*t.

Now clean the flecks of foam off your monitor.

Yeah, I am so sure he does their bidding for free.

I'm sure your opinions aren't facts, actually.

The least you could do is admit you had nothing but.

Keep loving the guy, though, and hating on the Republicans for doing the same thing with other corporations. Every (former and current) congressman is paid off by lobbyists. Including your guys.

Keep making sh*t up. It certainly helps your credibility.

Gonz: platedlizard: I love Biden, he doesn't give a fark about anything and will say whatever crosses his mind. Most politicians are so farking calculated it's disgusting.

You know how awesome Biden is? Just by speaking his mind, and speaking from the heart, he got a sitting President to come out on favor of gay marriage.

That's really freakin' cool when you think about it.

It's a big farking deal!
Came in here to express Biden love. Man can speechify.
Plus, the not giving a crap, and being goofy, and the inspiring story of having your family almost entirely wiped out and finding the strength to go on.

And his reaction to the above famous photoshop at the top of the thread.
Aaaand, I'm done

And for the ones I quoted:

The_Sponge: Epoch_Zero: Thanks for your contribution. And?

/and may I add: So?

So your definition is complete garbage.

The real definition of an "assault weapon" has one key component....it has to be select-fire.

Assault weapon is a non-technical term referring to any of a broad category of firearms with certain features, including some semiautomatic rifles, some pistols, and some shotguns. There are a variety of different statutory definitions of assault weapons in local, state, and federal laws in the United States that define them by a set of characteristics they possess. Using lists of physical features or specific firearms in defining assault weapons in the U.S. was first codified by the language of the now-expired 1994 Federal Assault Weapons Ban.[1]
Very generally speaking, a semi-automatic firearm is defined by these laws as an assault weapon if it has both a detachable magazine and a pistol grip, sometimes in conjunction with other features such as a folding stock or a flash suppressor. Assault weapons are often similar in appearance to military firearms, but are capable of firing only once each time the trigger is pulled.

the term assault weapon can refer to a military weapon used to aid in military assault operations, that is, attacking a fortified position (as referenced in multiple uses in military terminology below). Legislators and political lobbyists have adopted the term to refer to specific semi-automatic firearms and other firearms listed by specific characteristics for statutory purposes.

I love that irascible bastard. He's the only truly authentic person in politics I can think of. When he talks you know you're hearing what he actually believes, not just made-up crap to pander to an audience.

American politics would be better off if there were more people like Biden on the left AND the right.

BOTH SIDES BAD!! VOTE REPUBLICAN!!

lol you think I am voting Republican? There are more than two parties, and unfortunately, most people don't realize it.

Here is another source of his "fark you" to privacy. It is from those right-wingers at DailyKOS.

There are only two parties who have any chance of winning, because there are only two parties who have their shiat together. Third parties FAIL at organization, and until they actually do the work required to become a national party, voting for one is throwing your vote away.

Not to mention that there are enough third parties, especially with overlapping demographics and ideologies, that any 'third party' vote is going to be split to the point of uselessness. For farks sake, just look at how many Socialist third parties there are; if they all merged into one, they might have a slight chance, especially if they merged with the Greens and the more liberal Democrats. But again, they FAIL at any meaningful organization, and until they fix that, I'm gonna vote for the Democratic party, to keep the fascist Republicans at least somewhat in check.

2012-07-13 01:31:44 PM

The_Sponge: whidbey: Nice try, but we're talking about the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.

Threatening to repeal Obamacare is a slap to that organization and the people who belong to and support it: people of color. It IS a race thing.

You really are that deep in denial.

My advice to you is to stop being extremely partisan.

Like that's an insult. The fact is that the Democratic Party and leadership is the best thing we've got, and we should be supporting what they're trying to do.

The Republican party is out of touch, selfish group of morally bankrupt individuals. Why would I want to give them my support? Serious question.

How is "Obamacare" a law that only affects people of color?

It doesn't "only" affect them. But many people of color are also poor and benefit from the tenets in the new law. You shouldn't even have to be asking this.

OH NOES! I support its repeal, so I must be racist.

#1 with racists, certainly. So, why do you even oppose it? What's in it for you?

Dead terrorist after 9/11? Not so funny anymore.

I should have said overly implying. So how is supporting a repeal a slap in the face to people of color?

2012-07-13 01:42:34 PM

Epoch_Zero: iq_in_binary: /Seriously, assault weapon? Say that out loud to yourself, it doesn't sound like some buzz phrase that people use when they have no farking idea what they're talking about? Because it totally is.

I would disagree. It's a) a weapon, that is b) designed specifically for use in an assault or confrontation with another human.

Assault Weapon fits perfectly.

All weapons are, by definition, designed for assault. They're weapons, duh. The funny thing is that most of what you consider to be "assault weapons," "killing machines," and "murder magnets" are actually poorly designed compared to their "hunting" counterparts that people have no problem with. Everybody is scared shiatless of the AR-15 in my gun safe but completely inoculated to the M1A sitting right next to it, even though it is the deadlier weapon by far.

As I said, anybody who actually knows what they're talking about, anybody who has even the most rudimentary education on the subject, automatically associates the term "assault weapon" with "the next words to leave this person's mouth are based on lies, misinformation, and plain old ignorance."

I'm trying to be kind here. Actually, I've pointed out several times your denial that Romney's move at the NAACP could be seen as racist, and that opposing Obamacare also shows a large insensitivity towards people of color who also happen to be poor, and could also be construed as racist.

You support racism.

You must be dodging obvious attacks at the Republican party, Romney, and apparently your own idealism.

I stand by my remarks. I don't know if you personally are racist, but the party is, and Romney's gesture at the NAACP also confirms these kinds of suspicions.

I asked you: what do you personally gain out of opposing Obamacare? Why does it matter to you?

I'm a liberal, and I think the assault weapons ban is retarded. It basically bans guns for looking scary, and doesn't ban ones with equal firepower.

I'm not the only liberal to think this. Russ Feingold voted against it's extension for just this reason, calling it a "largely arbitrary and symbolic measure".

2012-07-13 02:11:32 PM
However, this doesn't mean that Biden isn't right on a whole lot of other issues, or that he has the perfect personality and abilities for a vice president.

2012-07-13 02:13:27 PM

whidbey: I asked you: what do you personally gain out of opposing Obamacare? Why does it matter to you?

Because the idea that people making under $250K should pay a fee/tax/whatever you want to call it for not having health insurance is ridiculous.

Or maybe I'm against it just to piss off welfare kings like yourself.

You know what's amusing? The fact that a "greedy" conservative like me has put more into society and taken out less than you have.

If there was solid proof any (former/current) congressman was taking money/gifts from lobbyists, they would be in deep shiat. Which is why it isn't out there. However, the fact there are lobbyists and the "WTF" vote of politicians (i.e. in this case why else would anyone vote on SOPA/PIPA?) is pretty much guarantee that it is happening. It is like steroids and pro-sports. It happens, but no one is stupid enough to admit they are the one doing it.

Actually, "putting into society" is a relative term. You seem to think that it doesn't count unless you fork over money, apparently.

Has nothing to do with making sure 40 million people are insured instead of making it more expensive for everybody.

Well good. Fark assault weapons and the redneck dildos who covet them.

Don't lump us all in with the gun fetishists, it makes you look just as stupid as the rabid conservatives who do the same thing with anything and everything that could be construed as liberal or progressive.

Don't lump WHO in with all gun fetishist? Redneck dildos? Come on, man, speak coherently.

You alluded that everybody who wants an "assault weapon" is a red neck dildo. That was your wording. I hate the AWB and I have a few "assault weapons" myself. By your reasoning I'm automatically a "redneck dildo," and that couldn't be further from the truth.

/Seriously, assault weapon? Say that out loud to yourself, it doesn't sound like some buzz phrase that people use when they have no farking idea what they're talking about? Because it totally is.

I agree. As a gun owning progressive, the AWB was a waste of time. Plus it couldn't even define what an assault weapon really was. SKS? Seriously? M1 Carbine? WTF? All the AWB did was drive prices up and introduce the words "pre-ban" into the gun show lexicon. It prevented nobody from actually obtaining the things.

And guess which current candidate for president signed an assault weapons ban in place? Yep, Romney. So if you want a "gun grabber" for President, by all means, vote for Romney. I'll be voting for Obama, under whose Presidency gun rights have actually increased.

You sound concerned.
