This can only turn out well.

I'm not familiar with the artist, however.

Coolest character in the entire series besides Lucifer!....and the Corinthian....and Loki....

What the hell was Lucien? He was one of Odin's crows that became human and worked for Morpheus?

Please let Hob be in it!

"Men of Good Fortune" is one of the best comics I have ever read.

He does the new 52 Batwoman - and I've made the comment more than once while reading it, "This guy loved Sandman"

Google his name + batwoman - I think he will make the Sandman fans very pleased.

I have a massive nerd boner right now. I loved Sandman. Hell, I loved everything Neil has even written. I really like JH Williams and I think he'll be a perfect fit. This doesn't smack of "money grabbing" like "Before Watchmen", nor does it sound hackneyed like the Star Wars prequel. I seriously cannot wait.

Dave McKean on covers?

In the foreword to one of the Sandman compilations, he mentions wondering if he should reveal the identity of Morpheus' main antagonist... could that be the "one final story" he wants to tell?

He gets a lot of praise for his layouts, which I think would work really well in a Sandman comic.

Lucien was Adam, as in, the first man. At least, this is heavily implied. Then he was Morpheus's raven for a while, then he became his librarian.

What happened to the other ravens? I dont remember then ever talking about it but I also missed the implications that Lucien was Adam

Well I guess it's about time I read these. I have heard nothing but great stuff about the sandman series and I sure enjoyed a few of his novels.
Good thing my library system has all of them for me to read.

LUCIEN

In issue #68, it is revealed that Lucien's existence in the Dreaming began as serving the role of Dream's first raven. When writing The Sandman Companion, author Hy Bender interpreted this as meaning that Lucien was also the first man. An allusion to "Mr. Raven", the ghostly librarian in George MacDonald's novel Lilith, may be intended.

Again, I still hope they include Hobb or whatever name he goes by. Such a cool character! And I hope we get to see Destruction and what he's been up to. I love the crappy painting he made and how Barnabas was a smartass about it. He's the embodiment of destruction how can he create anything let alone art?!? So clever!

I read American Gods a few months ago myself. That was a heck of a good book.

You know they're working on an HBO series of American Gods right now? It's supposed to come out next year. Gaiman says season 1 will be the book (with a few changes so that those of us who have read the book won't know everything that's about to happen) and then season 2 will be the stuff he wanted to write about that happened after American Gods.

I assume that refers to Desire, who was pulling strings the whole time to get Morpheus killed.

When are they gonna make a movie?

When they find writers and a director that know the source material but don't suck at their jobs.

fair enough.

I'm morbidly curious to see how a pairing of Gaiman with Steve Dillon would go.

I could almost roll on the floor in ecstasy.

I grew up on Sandman. I am pretty farking excited for this, and "American Gods" on HBO.

Lucien was apparently Adam at some point. Yes, that Adam, the first man. Then he was made into one of Dream's crows before becoming the Librarian.

Think on that for a minute.

You'll enjoy it, but do yourself a favor and read the recent version where they redid all the coloring. The writing was very, very good, but a lot of the art, especially early on, was crap. It does get a lot better later in the series.

Sandman was hands down the best series I ever read.

Do you know if they're filming it at the actual locations the book takes place in? Because that would bother me if they didn't.

My best guess is it's the Alianora story.

He's always mentioned at cons and public speeches that he may "get around to telling it".

I always thought it was implied Morpheus himself was behind the entire thing. He was tired of his responsibilities but was too proud and bound by rules to give up his job and walk away. There are many hints to this through out the series. Desire, Lucifer, and others maybe being behind it are red herrings if you pay attention.

Anyways this sounds awesome. Endless nights was pretty good.

Nope, both your and my guesses were wrong. I saw somewhere yesterday that he wants to give the backstory leading up to the first issue... why was Morpheus so easy to capture? Why was he dressed for all-out war?

Yup. From the man himself.
