(Washington Post)   If you are a motorcycle escort cop for the First Lady, it's probably not a good idea to discuss how you want to shoot her with other cops. And, it's REALLY a bad idea to show them a picture of the gun you intend to use   (washingtonpost.com) divider line 143

Decillion: slayer199: Farking idiots. I'm no fan of The President or his wife (totally disagree with their politics). That being said I respect the office and think anyone that wants to harm either of them is an anti-American moron.

Pop question: There's a carrot and a cookie on the table in front of you. You can only eat one. What do you do?

What do you do?

Go to the store 'cause I'm about out of food.

Generation_D: Bungles: Why exactly do people dislike Michelle Obama? She's charmed heads of state the world over, done superb work rebuilding the USAs international image, and has tried to make kids less fat.

Isn't that pretty much a perfect First Lady?

others said it, but 'uppity black woman' seems about to be the only thing I can come up with. how dare she. After all we did for her and her kind.

Ha. She is smart, successful, beautiful and stylish. But OMG, she likes farmer's markets and did mention that people should feed their kids well and take responsibility for their health. What an uppity b*tch!
People that park their kids in front of the TV and feed them crap piss me off too.

DROxINxTHExWIND: I'm sure he just disagrees with her healthy living initiative. I mean, she IS asking people to exercise and watch what they eat. If that isn't a reason to hate a person, what is?

She also had the nerve to pull kids out of school to introduce them to organic gardening on the White House lawn! They should have been studying for tests and not learning about healthy eating and self sufficiency.

They hate her, in part, because she DOESN'T fit the stereotype of black women that they cherish in their pinheads.

I volunteered for the Obama campaign in '08, and some of us had the pleasure to meet Mrs. Obama when she came to town to speak for her husband. If anything, that was what cemented my support for Obama. Bad men simply don't catch women like her, and they certainly don't keep them as happy as she obviously is. In person, she's a total class act, and radiates warmth, intelligence, integrity, and genuine interest in the well-being of others.

No wonder Republicans hate her so hard.

garandman1a: OK, we can all agree that she is a complete a-hole. If she was never proud of her country until they elected her husband (whether you like him or not) this is someone that is completely contemptable.

No... we can't agree. No, that isn't true either. But I bet it makes it easier for you to hate her by believing that bullshiat.

Black

Not ID'd or ethnic background mentioned (rules out being white)

Still has his badge

You know if it was a honky, he would be sitting in jail now

If this is oppresive to you, then you'd curl up in a ball and die if you had to deal with being black for 45 minutes.

pciszek: Michelle chose "Eat your vegetables and go play outside." Do conservative parents really tell their kids NOT to eat their vegetables, now that Michelle Obama has advocated it?
Mind you, I do not agree with the Obamas on the vegetable issue myself, but I always thought mine was a minority opinion.

Good conservatives just tell their kids, "So she eats her vegetables, but look how fat her ass is anyway." Thus letting their kids think and make their own decisions about eating healthy--is it better to eat junk like everyone else and fit in, or should you eat healthy and possibly end up with a fat ass anyway? See, liberals never allow anyone to think for themselves. it's always, "Do this, do that, we know what's good for you."

Conservatives like to allow everyone to be appallingly stupid, each in his own way. Just as long as you don't think you can make your own decisions about birth control.

Magnanimous_J: I think most of it is reflected hate from how much they hate the president. However, I truly believe that Michelle having the audacity to tell Bible-Belt parents that feeding their children processed garbage and letting the TV babysit them instead of excercising really struck a blow to their egos.

I think it is just the fact that she is a better parent than they are that gets them.

I wonder why everyone assumes that this is racially, politically or some agenda that this cop has. Could be as simple as the First Lady saw him eating a donut one day and muttered "Typical!" at him. Or she flicked a booger out of the car, and it hit him in the face as he was riding escort from behind. Or he had to work a long shift because she made unscheduled stops or detours and he just wanted to get home to watch So You Think You Can Dance? And then he said something off the cuff that he shouldn't have (considering his particular assignment).

I mean, who hasn't had a boss you wanted to punt down the stairs? Just because you have a good public face doesn't mean that you can't be a twat on a one-on-one level. Not saying Michelle Obama is, but it isn't out of the realm of possibility.

Not everything is some conservatard Illuminati Manchurian candidate assassination plot.

Geez if you weren't so blinded by your love of "The Messiah" it's be obvious, but let me break it down for you liberal-libby

1) She's uppity: despite being both black AND a woman she tells people what to do and stuff and tries to "educate" people like she knows something gooder than them

2)She's a woman: As if it wasn't bad enough that she was BLACK, she also an unabashed WOMAN -in the White House, and not even the regular sammich-making kind of woman, one of them uppity ones that gets themselves educated and has a career and stuff like that Hillary Rodham Clinton lady who nearly destroyed the republic by being first lady while keeping her maiden name.

3) She's B-L-A-C-K!: look at her, she can't possible deny it, she's an open and practicing black person. which means every day she's probably making our founding fathers weep by saying, in the sacred confines of the Whitehouse, such things as "Girrrl_Freind!" or "Mmm-hmmm no he di'nt!" and proabably, shamefully rocking her head back and forth or even waving her finger while doing it!

So you think it's within the realm of possibility that she treated this guy so poorly that he wanted to kill her?

You think it's more likely that Michelle Obama is secretly "a twat", than it is that a cop is being an overemotional bully?

It must be an interesting view of reality, to see everything "within the realm of possibility" as equally likely.

Oh yeah? Try being fair and balanced, like Fox News is. Then you can see both sides of things. This cop probably just happened to be looking at pictures of guns he'd like to own when Michelle came by and gave him that "uppity" look. The rest of it was Taken Out of Context.

How can this guy be racist? Most of his guns are black.

Way to cherry-pick a sentence or two and miss the point completely. Being that I kick a buck to bums occasionally and help the blind across the street, I'll give you another go and I'll type m o r e s l o w l y and very literally this time so maybe you'll get it:

Perhaps this officer said something off the cuff to his partner, without literal intent because of having to deal with circumstances that were marginally outside the course of his normal duties (i.e. "venting"). In light of the person he was talking about, he should have kept his big mouth shut, grinned and bore it, but he did not and someone overheard it and reported it.

And what I'm saying is more likely is that the trigger for all this is likely banal rather than some right-wing/racist/political agenda driven/inside-job/manifesto-writing murder plot against the first lady.

Also, please do not summarize this as "...this officer said...literal intent...murder...the first lady."

2012-07-13 02:26:35 PM
Best part of article:

"We received an allegation that inappropriate comments were made. We are currently investigating the nature of those comments," D.C. police spokeswoman Gwendolyn Crump said in an e-mail. She declined to discuss the matter further.

Police officials declined to identify the officer. Officials from the U.S. Attorney's office declined comment.

In an interview Thursday afternoon, police union chief Kristopher Baumann said he did not have details on the matter.

We know nothing....Nothing!!

Gonz: Captain Horatio Mindblower: I'm glad this dillweed is getting in trouble for this. He'll be reassigned at least, and maybe fired, and possibly even prosecuted.

Still, there's no reason for pretending, as some of the reportage does, that this was a plot to kill the First Lady. This guy is a would-be Ted Nugent, not a would-be John Hinckley.

/ who had a vision

Possibly. But the Secret Service has had it's collective sense of humor surgically removed, and this guy will undergo some rather long and unpleasant questioning.

And I'm OK with that. Don't threaten the First Lady. ANY First Lady. They didn't get elected, and they tend to have good causes, like "eat your vegetables and exercise" or "read more books" or similar. (What was Barbra Bush's cause? I seriously don't remember, but I'm sure it was friendly, benign, and common-sense.)

"Just say no" was not harmless or sensible

I am horrified by everything Barack Obama has done as president TO me (he has done nothng FOR me) and I find his wife an annoying scold. However much that may be, I'd be the first to call for the death penalty (slow and painful) for anyone who even tried to kill either of them. And that's not just because Joe Biden would be the president.

The people elected him legally & constitutionally. She comes as part of the deal. Why does one person think they have the right to change the will of the people in such a manner? If it were an illegal power grab, thats different but not her fault. You want to (justifiably in my opinion) impeach him for something he's done in office, go ahead. But do not physically harm them. And again, the crimes of her husband are not her fault.

OK, I can turn her off when she comes on my TV, and thats the only way I would ever encounter her. You work with her and can't turn off the TV? Then get a different job.

Fortunately, the law requires facts to be proven and firmly set criteria to be met and your laughably uninformed opinion doesn't matter in the slightest.

Am I proud of the Iran Contra scandal? Am I proud of Henry Kissinger's war crimes? Am I proud of the massacres in Iraq committed by our mercenaries? Of course not.

As much as you might love knocking over strawmen, I never suggested that anyone should be proud of everything america has done. In fact, I said exactly the opposite.

But to stand up and say that America has done nothing in the past 30 years that you can be proud of besides elect Barack Obama? It's f***ing stupid. It's not insensitive, it's just stupid.

2012-07-13 04:48:03 PM

Ummmm, in the last three weeks Freeperland has had article after article about how they're "ashamed" of their country after the healthcare ruling. It's a turn of phrase.

Please tell me that you're able to comprehend the difference between saying "I am ashamed our country did X" and "until this moment, I have never been proud of anything that our country has done".

You know they're logically completely different, right?

That one means you're ashamed of something, but could very well be proud of other things. And that the other statement means that there is NOTHING you can be proud of.

As far as this guy goes, I think the safe thing to do would be to waterboard him for awhile just to make sure their aren't any co-conspirators still loose.

The hate for her is probably so widespread because everyone does that. Every parent in the country simultaneously said "YOU DID NOT JUST TELL ME HOW TO RAISE MY CHILDREN!" and hasn't listened to anything she's said since. Black, white, or brown (yellow still mostly exempt), rich and poor alike, basically most parents have largely given up on any semblance of nutrition other than following a few fad diets and whatever their parents made, while buying and making larger and more sugar-packed portions of what was already too much food as the nation became sedentary after WW2.

Nancy Reagan didn't get that kind of hate because she was a little old lady that people respected, and she tapped into feelings that parents already had.

So wait--I'm stupid for not agreeing that this guy might have a point...and that trumps the stupidity of what he did? Got it.

I've been so mad at an employer before, I walked out in the middle of a shift and didn't go back, even to pick up my last paycheck. But telling a coworker that I'd like to shoot my boss, even as a joke? That's an unjustifiable level of stupid, especially in a country where people take threats like that seriously. And that's not even factoring in the First Lady status of the boss.

What the fark is the point of trying to see this retarded cop's point of view? He's dumber than most 16-year-olds if he thinks that remark wouldn't be investigated. Defending him just makes you look bad, and that's a shame.

Perhaps true, but note that the Officer gets only a paid vacation, while a civilian who said something similar, particularly about a Republican President, would have been disappeared under the PATRIOT Act, or at least prosecuted and sent to prison.
