FTFA: "Boyfriend" singer Bieber has been slapped with a lawsuit by an Oregon woman who claims that she suffered extensive hearing damage brought on by shrieking Bieber fans at one of his concerts.

What the fark did you EXPECT to encounter at a Bieber concert, you retarded old biddy? I hope the judge laughs in your face, then orders a forced sterilization so you don't pop out babies as retarded as you.

The lawyer that filed this should be tarred and feathered.

That and; good luck. You have to document that your hearing wasn't damaged beforehand, that it's not damaged now, AND what the levels at the concert were. The claim that his ride thingie was the cause is also just blatant making up stuff.

CSB time:

One of the first concerts I went to was A-Ha at the Schnitzer here in Portland. Our seats were back under the balcony, which served to amplify crowd sounds. Every little gesture the lead singer made caused the girls in the crowd to go nuts screaming. I was afraid he might take his shirt off and my eardrums would explode. Ears rang for about an hour after that show.

Eff this woman for forcing me to side with Bieber.

Is there some sort of counter-suit or penalty for frivolous cases? Or can people just line up trying to sue rich people? I've always wondered.

I have annoyingly sensitive ears, so I have a pair of kick-ass earphones I carry with me whenever I know it's going to be loud. Mock battle, air show, concert, even fireworks.

If a group of people from the same concert suddenly had hearing damage, I might consider her case. Since it's just her...she's a twat.

Shouldn't she be suing all the other concert goers? All the Beebs was doing was singing.

/man I almost posted that without considering the possible humorous responses

They can counter-sue for legal costs. They could sue for slander and/or punitive damages as well, but they'd have to prove that whoever filed the original suit knew it was a load of bull.

According to Betts, the injury occurred when the singer "climbed into a heart-shaped, aluminum/steel gondola and was pulled out over the crowd." The lawsuit says Bieber then "enticed the crowd into a frenzy of screams by continuously waving his arms in a quick and upward motion."

Unfortunately, according to Betts, "the gondola that Justin Bieber was suspended in acted as a sound conductor, creating a sound blast that permanently damaged both of my ears."

What?

The suit -- which also names Bieber's record label Island Def Jam, concert promoter AEG Worldwide, and Vulcan Sports and Entertainment, which owns the Rose Quarter -- is seeking $9,230,000 in damages, plus court costs, attorneys' fees and other expenses related to the suit.

and then ...

Unfortunately, according to Betts, "the gondola that Justin Bieber was suspended in acted as a sound conductor, creating a sound blast that permanently damaged both of my ears."

... so why is she not also suing the manufacturer of the gondola?

Wondering the physics of the metal gondola creating sound blasts to damage hearing... Also, some hearing loss should be expected attending a concert. If hearing loss does not occur after attending a concert, find better music.

teeny: Is there some sort of counter-suit or penalty for frivolous cases?

There are both of those things-- a counter-suit and the judge stating a case is friviolous are different things, one is the person who was sued filing a suit against the plaintiff and the other is the judge telling the plaintiff to fark off and stop being a jackass. Another big difference is that if a judge actually calls a suit frivolous the plaintiff's lawyer is in big trouble as well, and potentially in danger of being disbarred if they get called out on a few such cases.

Then there's being awarded court costs, which is also a different thing and fairly common.

Good. Because this -- like the link on here about the lawyer in Oregon helping the rich biatch keep a dog from its true, but poorer, owners -- is bullshiat. Yeah, there are unusual cases out there that people need representation for, but this is just a settlement grab. Settlement grabs should be punished with a Countdown to Disbarment.

Not enough money and it wont give her her 15 minutes of fame.

Hate to say it... But I think I am hoping that Bieber wins this case... what a Bieber is that is...

I also have sensitive ears and can't listen to anything loud without at least putting toilet paper in my ears. That's all it takes--if you find yourself somewhere things are getting uncomfortably loud, get to the bathroom and get a little TP for your ears. Then STFU, lady. If you're too stupid to shield yourself from uncomfortable levels of noise, you deserve to go deaf.

I don't call it "annoyingly sensitive" hearing either. I like having hearing that is sensitive enough that I don't want to stand in front of the speakers at a music festival, thankyouverymuch. Are those people freaking retarded?

I've gone to a couple of smaller concerts where the band blew my farking ear drums out. Type O Negative in the Roseland Ballroom and Twisted Sister at the Downtown.
I was right next to the speakers both time. . It's annoying for a couple of days, but it goes away. This biatch ain't getting 9 mill from just a couple a girl shrieks.

(independent of the fact that we know this suit is baseless and frivolous)

I am finding it very difficult to believe that this woman did not know that at a farking concert it would be very loud. Compound that with 15,000 screaming tween girls/teen girls...Did she think that this was going to be a subdued Catholic Mass?

It is a concert with a teen heart throb, it is going to be loud, how is this surprising to anyone?

Take some personal responsibility and wear ear plugs you stupid twunt! I learned that a long time ago. Fine, make fun of me because I may look a little silly, but I will be able to hear fine after the show. Shows are loud enough that you can wear earplugs and still hear the show just fine.

2012-07-13 11:46:50 AM
The irony is she probably went to a Beatles concert once and screamed her head off.

Random side note, I always feel bad for the Beatles when I hear live recordings of them - the fans were screaming so loud the band couldn't even hear themselves play or sing.

2012-07-13 12:21:57 PM
Of all the concerts I ahve worked at/gone to the ones for the tween girls are the worst. The sound that comes from the crowd is a high pierced shrill that makes me wish my head was smushed up against a speaker at any metal show. It can break glass. Im glad I always brought ear protection.

An hour. AN HOUR?!?

I went to one of The Who's farewell concerts in the early 80s. It was on a Sunday night. My ears stopped ringing on Wednesday.

Pfffff, an hour ...
