Sickapie: I don't know about yous guize, but I'd certainly like a status report on Sarah....

Ohhhhhh Spinach Gunk!!!!

Oh hai! Forgive me, I went to bed at sunrise and woke up after 3:00pm our time (Pacific)! That's pretty bad even for me, lol. Been busy doing some things around the house that I've been neglecting.

We are happy to report that little Sarah is doing just great. She ate a deluxe gooshyfood lunch all by herself in one sitting with no encouragement necessary! Is taking her meds like a champ. And at long last she had a proper poop! :) And she seems very cheerful and perky again, when she's awake, but she's getting lots of solid rest, which is a good thing too.

I think sllink1 mentioned about the pee pads -- Sarah has been using them for years, they are a godsend! Living the first 8 years of her life in a cage, she was never properly toilet trained. Once I realized her preference for doing her business on the bathmat or in laundry or newspapers left on the floor, I knew she needed to go "on" something, so I gave her some pee pads and she adapted to them perfectly. As she aged and got less and less able to go walking outside on a regular basis, they became even more useful. When you gotta pee every 2 or 3 hours, you can't wait for mommy to get up in the middle of the night to get dressed and find her keys so she can take you out! A quick and dignified wee on a mat in the corner of the bedroom works much better for everyone. She "hits" the mat about 90% of the time, but sometimes she puts just her front paws on the mat and assumes her ass end is on it too, lol. For those times, there is Nature's Miracle. :)

Thank you again everyone for your well-wishes. All kisses, hugs, scritchies, etc, have been administered, and joyfully received! :)

Sarah really does look like a grand old girl! I don't think they had "pee pads" when I was a kid, but that would have worked great for our chihuahuas! We used some newspapers behind a short bookcase in the corner of the living room. The only thing was, they would occasionally use the TV Guide if it was left on the floor!

Doh.... Sarah just walked into the kitchen and I could hear her start having a drink of water... suddenly there was a crash! I ran into the kitchen -- to find her staggering around on the floor with the right side of her head and neck all wet! And the "wtf just happened?" face. Oh dear. I held her upright while she calmed down, let her walk it off a bit, then gently dried her off. She seemed shaken but all right.

Not sure whether she had another small seizure and fell into the water dish while she was drinking, then got up and stumbled around, or whether she was drinking, stood up suddenly, bonked her head on the cupboard door overhang, freaked out and splashed her head in the water on the recoil, then stumbled backwards and reeled around going wtf?

The bonk head on cupboard door explanation wouldn't surprise me, as she is very easily startled. Once I saw her raise her hind leg up to scratch her chin. She paused for a second -- then suddenly noticed her foot there next to her face, and freaked out so badly she fell over backwards! My poor derpy baby. I feel so guilty laughing when she does things like that, but she can be so comical sometimes. She does get a lot of comforting to make up for it. :)

Anyway she's okay now. She went back for another try a minute ago (supervised this time!) and had a good drink as if nothing had happened. Sigh. She is hasing a happee nap tiems nao. :)

When I read about your Sarah I can't help but be reminded of my Baby. She came into my life as a beaten and starved stray that walked up my driveway and moved in. She got her name from everyone saying
"You poor Baby" she was approx 3 when she moved in and stayed for 17 years. After getting her cleaned up and as healthy as possible she ended up with on and off kidney infections for life and occasional seizures. The dog in the lower left of the picture was Elsa we called her Baby's service dog. She always knew when Baby was going to have a seizure and was right there to catch her when she collapsed and then would lay down and guard her until it was over.
There were times when I didn't get any sleep with her health issues but she always straightened out.
I've had a lot of dogs in my life and loved every one of them but Baby will always be special just like Sarah is for you.

I've been out most of the day at the hospital visiting my mom. She had surgery today. She's fine now. Resting comfortably. She had a hysterectomy and they found a rather large 10" tumor in there that they took out. It ended up being benign, but it was the longest 2 weeks she'd ever spent! Whew! I felt bad leaving her but she said she wouldn't be alone as the nurses would be bothering her every 15 minutes taking her temperature, pulse, etc. LOL

Sent our Alien a little surprise last week...hope it arrives soon.

Had company during the weekend...ex-partner and his new girlfriend.
I've had a sufficient quantity of weirdness in my life that it was actually no big deal.
She and I got along great- tag-teamed 'picking on' Gregor...and SHE FIXED MY COMPUTER!

D'Artagnan was completely smitten with her. Had to tell him "No, we can't keep her; she's got furkids of her own to go home to."
Think he was looking for her today...pretty sure he misses her.

My poor D'Artagnan...I wish I knew how to make things so that he was a happier cat alla time...

I'm talking to her now and poor thing has cotton mouth from the anesthesia. They won't let her have anything to dring until tomorrow. She can swab her mouth with water.

I wanted to stay tonight, but I couldn't with Little Pie, and my dad can't because of his OCD as he needs to sleep in his own bed. She'll be ok. We'll be back in the morning. :o)

Speaking of hosp, as Sickapie was, it was revealed at my med appt this AM that I'll need to go in for an extraction too. When I went in for another routine exam, something not a tumour was found that could stand to be Withdrawn. The examining more-than-an-RN tried to do it on the spot, as did the examining MD this AM; it declined both times. Or rather, I complained too much both times. Don't expect it to be nearly as big a deal as Sickapie's mom's tumour was.

LOL

Oh, wait. It was.

10"? Wow. Glad your Mom's better.

LMAO

The second I hit 'enter' I thought "Ooooooh, this time I've gone too far." Glad you have a sense of humor.

laulaja: Speaking of hosp, as Sickapie was, it was revealed at my med appt this AM that I'll need to go in for an extraction too.

Totally unrelated; cat bag belonging to Sharon Stevens, a Support Staff person for Pl's district contests.
At least 1 cat runs their lives.

Abcess, maybe?
