In case anyone hasn't seen this from The Oatmeal, Why Nikola Tesla was the greatest geek who ever lived. (or, why Edison was the greatest douchebag)

Personally, I'd rather see a Tesla/Edison movie starring Gary Busey and Nick Nolte.

"This is how you're supposed to handle electricity, butthorn."

"Awwwwww hell, Tesla... DON'T YOU TELL ME THAT I'VE HAD ENOUGH, YOU SONUVABIATCH."

Tesla was a genius. But an idiot at the same time. But he and Mark Twain were friends...

Edison was a son of a biatch, no matter how you look at it.

Gotta agree with jj325. I had no idea Bowie was even in The Prestige until the credits rolled, I did a double take and fast forwarded to the character list to see who he played.

Another great rivalry between David Sarnoff, Lee DeForest and Edwin Armstrong could make a compelling movie. Ken Burns made a great 100-minute documentary about them called Empire of the Air just after becoming a household name with The CIvil War.

Dear Hollywood,

We understand, you're completely out of ideas. We know this, and to some degree we sympathize with you. A long time ago we let you bastardize pretty much any story that came out in book form. You took excessive liberties and for the most part we dealt with it. You gutted entire plotlines, changed endings and even removed whole chunks relative to the story. You're welcome.

See, the problem we have is this; the kids aren't getting any smarter. Were getting our asses kicked in global education. Yes, it's our job to make up for that and were working on it as well as can be expected with all the financial cuts to schools and the severe anti-intellectualism that's become a holdover from the Bush-era.

So, when you take actual historical figures and facts and alter, mangle and use them for your own purposes, you're just not helping. Thousands of kids whom likely won't go far in life will think of Abraham Lincoln as an actual Vampire Hunter. They're bad enough off already; keeping the slushie machine running at peak capacity will be about the height of what they're prone to accomplish in life. But it doesn't excuse you from this new direction of historical revisionism.

You have the entire world of fiction to work with. Please leave the non-fiction unmolested.

Thank you.

You have to think about "who plays asshole better?" When I think Nic Cage, I think of someone who's borderline crazy, eccentric but too lovable or troubled to be an 'asshole'. Bale can pull it off effortlessly though.

It's close enough that a non font snob would be confused, so it still counts!

Ole Karen Down in Reviewing? yeah.. you know Karen... she's the FAT one with the sweater vests and the updo... the one who Emails off the cat pics and has embroidered frog thing hanging in her cubicle that says "Frogs have it made! they eat what bugs them!"
Yeah,, Karen, you know her. she's the one that makes sure you give her five bucks every week for god knows WHO's birthday cake in the office.. apparently she's on some kind of committee, HELL she IS the committee!
she's always leaving these cutesy passive aggressive notes she's printed up all over the office. "Please don't bring in your own coffee for the machine, and please don't use the last creamer!" or... " be sure to swizzle the bowl when you are done!"

All done in Comic sans..

She would look at that thing and say "oh HAY! that's the letters I use fer all my notes and stuff there! YAH! De comics one! Yeahuh! Ohhh... but I dunno.. that there tesler fella sounds like a feraner! And a pigeon diddler at dat!"

Yeah.. Karen.. farkING KAREN! wouldn't be able to tell the farking difference either, this is how much normal people actually give a fark.

I knew I had seen a movie with Tesla represented in it, something about magic acts, duplicating cats, thought I was losing my mind. Google turns up The Prestige

Wow, try reading the Wiki for the story line of THAT freakin' movie. Even having watched it years ago, my head still hurts.

I'm still trying to get through it.. I keep making the mistake of thinking that it is a good idea to put it on when its late at night and I'm mostly drunk.

The big loud parts that wake me up when the home theater kick in look interesting.
