To be fair, ballpoint pens usually kill about 100 people a year due to choking.

Three Britons are among nine people swept to their deaths in an avalanche in the French Alps in Europe's worst ever mountaineering disaster.

They've been transported to another planet to live out their sentient pen-like existence. I, myself, was the chauffeur for a family of byros for a whole year.

There's no need to climb this thing. Take the tram up, look around, head back to Chamonix and get pissed in the Irish pub.

But Mont Blanc pens are refillables, not pedestrian ball points! How many people die each year trying to refill their Mont Blancs? And you sir, may flick my Bic.

I have no sympathy for mountain climbers. All mountains can be dangerous. Big mountains such as Mont Blanc are very often deadly. No mountaineer is a match for them; they only think they are.

You're 10 times more likely to die in a car accident than mountaineering (assuming you both climb and drive) The fatality rate for mountaineering is lower than motorcycle riding, boating, and private pilots. It is right around downhill skiing. You know why you hear about these stories? Because they don't happen too often.

Well, no WONDER 50 people get killed a year--people keep tromping on this guy, he's going to get pissed off:

images2.wikia.nocookie.net

And as you can see, those Ivalician moogles are halfway to being Vorpal Rabbits Moogles anyways; I'd imagine being trod on once would set the guy off, much less hundreds if not thousands of times a year O_o

/Someone did the pen reference; I'm pulling out the bunny-moogles, damnit
//am I honestly the only person who liked the bunny-moogles?

Carth: You know why you hear about these stories? Because they don't happen too often.

Also in the case of Mont Blanc there are thousands and thousands of people who make the summit each year. Even in winter people who aren't hard core climbers make the summit. Just as when you have thousands of people crossing streets eventually someone gets hit by a car, when you have thousands upon thousands of people going up a mountain, sooner or later someone is in the wrong place at the wrong time. Though a person is much more likely to be in the wrong place at the wrong time crossing the street than while on Mont Blanc.

My point was to give climbers an option with the tasty promise of Irish pub food and drink in Chamonix, rather than climbing a mountain, because, let's face the truth here, all that time mountain climbing will seriously cut into the time one could spend drinking.

Honestly, however, I don't know if my favorite little Irish pub is even still there. I've not been in Chamonix in ages, but ten minutes in that place is all it takes to make you forget about climbing anything other than the freakin' mind-smashingly hot bartender girl with the French accent and....

/I'll be in my bunk.

Nope. I can't remember the name, but the pub was part of the hotel I stayed in, and it was in the side of town where the skiers hung out. There was a stream behind the place that handled the glacial run-off, and I was there in the summer when the glaciers were melting.

Best thing was the pub had seats inside that hung out over the water, and you could look down and watch it out the windows. So, sitting there with half an ass full with this rushing stream of cold blue and white water rushing beneath you was dizzying and kind of fun when getting drunk.
