he has the accent, and the accent, and the uh........accent going for him.
I haven't even seen Daniel Craig play the character, but would possibly make an effort to avoid seeing anything with Robert in that role.

Eh, in 10 or 15 years I could see it, assuming they go back to more tuxedos and cocktail parties and less Bourne.

I'd love to see this because his character on the BBC show Luther is kind of morally questionable, he's got a hot psychopath wanting a little something off him, and I think we are ready for a James Bond who just says, "Eh, fark this." when a bad guy comes in the place.

Plus he's one dapper dude.

Meh. The only reason I'm holding out any hope for the next Bond film is that they finally hired a real director.

How about Matt Bomer? He's a nice looking man.

2012-07-12 12:23:24 PM
The last time I checked James Bond was a male role, so that Pattinson chick can just forget it.

Just started watching Luther last night and I could totally see that.

I used to hope for Ewen McGregor, but I think Daniel Craig killed that.

To be honest, I doubt he'd be any worse than Roger Moore. He's judged by his role in Twilight but not even the ghost of Laurence Olivier could make that work.

drewogatory: I could see it, assuming they go back to more tuxedos and cocktail parties and less Bourne.

This, and this wouldn't be Pattinson's fault any more than it's Daniel Craig's. I do seriously doubt Pattinson would be a good 007 (I'm just saying he might not be the worst), but the franchise has bigger problems. The MBAs have taken over and are chasing the Michael Bay formula. I suppose it's profitable and the movies are fun to watch but I just don't feel like I'm watching James Bond. Bond was a high-class spy; lately it looks more like True Lies without the comedy.

Bond uses a Walther PPK fercrissakes. That's not a dudebro weapon; you can practically hide it by shoving it up your nose!

Why is this news? I'm sure plenty of actors talk about their dream roles in interviews. The ones that get played up are the ones that seem deeply implausible, so we can laugh at them. Pattinson is scrawny and doesn't radiate tough, so who cares?

Though, Pattinson could just be trolling everyone knowing the way he talked about Twilight in the press.

In which case...heh.

Oh please please please let this happen. The resulting dorkrage strokes and embolisms would be worth it.

Channing Tatum is the blandest leading man I've ever seen. I'm still not convinced that he's not entirely CGI. It was okay when he was confined to chick-flicks but recently he's been edging towards movies I might actually want to watch.

This is probably the time I reveal that I'm a traitor to my gender and that the only Bond movie I own is Goldeneye, and even then because my N64 is busted and that was the best I could do.

Then it's a good thing that it wan't Die Another Day which was made into the best N64 game ever (also the only FPS I've ever found remotely playable on a console).
