Is it tasteful to make nuclear bomb jokes in this? I mean, has it been long enough that we can make fun of that?

97? Pfft. I can do that in my Prius.

You'd think that there would be a statute of limitations for speeding tickets & that two years later would be way over that. I guess it's true though, you can't escape your dumb moves on the internet. Nice car though...

Yeah, the half-life of jokes about death by nuclear annihilation isn't all that long. There shouldn't be any fallout over this.

"The YouTube posting has since been removed."

Then I have lost any and all interest in this particular news item, my good man. A good day to you, Sir!

After reading the headline, I thought for sure this would have been Top Secret's Smokey. A notorious violator of speed limits. He even led the police in the UK on quite the chase and ended up escorted out of the country.

2012-07-12 12:54:58 PM
Huh, if it is just speeding, then the police have 3 months to charge you over here. After that, no dice.

Wow, they arrest you for that speed that long after the fact? Although I guess that could happen in the US, depending on the state. thankfully it hasn't happened to me. I've gotten a 90 in a 45 on a back country farm road with no side streets. could have landed a jet on it.

/wish I had that car.

Was thinking the same thing. 97 in a lambo? That's what, about halfway to redline in second gear?

2012-07-12 12:58:13 PM
That YouTube prank certainly blew up in his face.

2012-07-12 01:00:52 PM
What the hell good is something like this if the video has been taken off YT?

Video or it didn't happen. (Even the police only have that......)

If you ARE going to make nuclear annihilation jokes in headlines, at least make them GOOD. Subby is clearly trying to hard.

No, you can only do 37 at once. And only then if it's in a very uncomfortable place.

seriously. every time i visit my sister in upstate NY i hit 100+ coming and going - in a frickin' Saturn! younger days i did 115 on a Moto Morini Cafe Sport through the heavy curves. this guy should turn in his Lambo to someone who will drive it right.

I wonder if he was bombed when he did it. He was probably thinking "man, now I'm toast!"

/got nothin'

IIRC, cars built for the Japanese market must be limited to 111 MPH.

The GT-R for the Japanese market will disable the limiter when the nav detects it is at a track.

Strange to me, just spent 10+ hours legally driving over 120 MPH in Germany a few weeks ago. In a freak hire Opel. Made me long for my S4 parked at JFK.

Arrested! Ha ha. Choice.

I love Japan and Japanese people. They are so polite and conscientious, and quiet. Compare say the dirty, noisy, invade-your-personal-space people of China, the Japanese are pretty much the BEST ASIANS.

Dammit, couldn't remember and I had a 50/50 shot of making it. Unlike anyone within a mile of the blast radius.

And I was at the AF armament museum outside of Eglin AF base in Florida (though a lot more than a week back). They had a mockup of Fat Man there. (And an entire Goddamn B-52, SR-71 and AC-130, among others. Awesome farking museum!) I took my wife's parents there (who where Japanese and had lived in Hiroshima...though not went it went all explodey) As we passed the Fatman display they kinda looked at me like "whats this all about?" and I was like "Oh yeah, the death of 39,000-something people...you guys might be a little sensitive about that"
