It'd be funnier if they got Ed Harris to do it.

'Office' thesp in talks to star as Rusty Griswold in comedy

2nd sentence: Helms would play Rusty Griswold, the son of Clark Griswold

That's some fine headline writing there, subby

WHY??? The best idea for a new Vacation movie would be to bring back everybody and have it be a full-blown dual-misadventure by both Rusty and Audrey on their way to their parents' house, and Clark going over-the-top in his preparations.

Oh, how long have we all been waiting for this reboot?

I hope they get the Roadhouse reboot green lit in time for Hugh Jackman to star. If it takes longer, he can still play the mentor.

Chafed Willi: Wait, does Chevy Chase have any friends left in Hollywood to do a movie?

It would be a relatively cheap movie that stands to make a decent profit.

Everyone in Hollywood is your friend if you can do that for them.

Just lock Chevy Chase and Randy Quaid in the back of a Kia Soul for a cross-country drive and record everything.

Some movies are better off left un-rebooted/sequelified.

This is definitely one of them.

Caddyshack 2 anyone? Blues Brothers 2000?

Don't tamper with pure perfection. Even if it was a great reboot, it will always be compared, and come up short, to the original.

Hey dipshiat, it's not a "reboot". A "reboot" is when you throw out everything that happened before and make the movie over. Much like the Hulk/Incredible Hulk mess. This is a "sequel". A "sequel" is a movie that follows another, carrying on plot lines, characters or both. A "sequel" can also involve a new storyline where a child or friend of the principal character(s) in the previous storyline decides to try their own hand at the same situation.

Jesus, farking people and their Word of the Day. 6-7 years ago, it was "microburst", everything was a "microburst", lately it's been "reboot".

that being said, I don't know if this is something that will give me nightmares or not. Could be funny. Could be a train wreck. I would prefer to let the 4 movies stand as-is and not take any more chances. 'Vegas Vacation' was a close one. It's ok and all, but I could have lived a happy life with only the first 3. Let's just leave it where it is and try not to fark it up. Maybe someone in the room can come up with an ORIGINAL idea for a change? The sad part is; there are probably a million people in LA right now with good ideas for screenplays, but since they don't suck dick in the right circles, they'll never get a chance, and we'll just see more and more board games made into movies. Yeah, I had a friend aggressively defend 'Battleship' this summer, told me that I was just too closed minded to think for myself.

Although Vacation is awesome, and European Vacation is a good follow up, I could never understand why Christmas Vacation gets such good reviews. The gags just aren't that funny.

Marisol Nichols is not as hot as I remember. On a related note, why is it that whenever I type an actress' name into google, it suggests "[actress name] feet" immediately? Creepy.

I don't think I saw Vegas Vacation, but she looks pretty good on IMDB.

There should be a law against remaking, rebooting or doing sequels to Harold Ramis comedies. He knows what he's doing in a way that very few people out there do.

You know, I don't want another "Vacation, but this time, IT'S HIS SON". The whole point of Vacation is that all the events on the way that stand in Clark's way lead to him going crazy. He's been through all this crap to take his kids to Wally World, and goddamn it, they're going to go to Wally World and enjoy themselves. While not going as far as holding people up, parents get that way.

Go and do an actual, original story. Take some piece of humanity and make a story from it, you bums.

2012-07-12 07:02:54 AM
Reboot? Wouldn't Clark having grandchildren be funny? Think of the in-law jokes.

Mikey1969: A "reboot" is when you throw out everything that happened before and make the movie over

A reboot is when they redo a movie with current hot young actors and their iPads. See, when you add in the 'iPad' element, you get all that familiarity with this exciting new internet generation we have going on right now.

People relate to the iPad an kids chuckle when you mention them.

It's not like feeding animals at a zoo, and you are not being mocked AT ALL.

Community let Chevy redeem himself for years of total crap. I wouldn't mind seeing another run at Clark Griswold. Not for a reboot - just a late sequel.

I think this idea is brilliant. Anthony Michael Hall has gotten too studly to go back and play a dweeb. I think Ed Helms is a great choice to play a grown Rusty.

And fisher, I don't mind the introduction of an iPad - as long as there are naked pictures of Beverly D'Angelo on it.
