That's some standing by your position there.

I really look forward to him being asked to explain that in the debates. There is no way they can have a debate and NOT have that question come up. He's avoided it pretty well; I want to see what he does when the two plans are laid side by side and he has to answer.

/a girl can dream.

1) State that it was a good plan on a state level, but not a national level.
2) Emphatically deny that he ever said that it would be a good national role model.
3) State that the videotape of him saying that it would be a good national role was taken out of context.
4) Quickly change the subject.

Corvus: Shrugging Atlas: So today, at THIS event is the one time he finally decides not to flip flop?

He admits now that he did it on purpose. He wanted to get booed so that he could look strong to his base standing up to blacks, which most of his base think are the ones causing the problem in the US. He doesn't give a shiat about the black vote. He wanted them to be mad at him. It was a political ploy.

Christ, I saw that after I posted. Well, I'm sure the NAACP will just LOVE that. Possible a number of fair minded independent voters that aren't thrilled with it either.

But at any rate, looking at the video it sure as hell looks like he didn't know WTF to do when he was booed. Not saying he didn't expect it, but like everything else with his campaign, it's half-assed. "Completely predictable and anticipated situation? Have no plan what to do!"

Really? Do you think that was what he was getting at? Because it looked to me as though he was waiting for someone to point out how offensive his comment was, and then he could complain that he was the victim of the real racism. But perhaps I've grown too cynical.

This is assuming he has a staff. Or that they have more than 1 brain cell between them. I can't believe anyone thought Mitt farking Romney would be the right choice to speak to the NAACP. What next, Barack Obama to address the KKK? Maybe doing his best Clayton Bigsby impression? My God. The fail......it was strong.

Romney getting bood by the NAACP this morning is the smartest thing his campaign has ever done. The intent was to spit on the other team in order to fire up his own and get them in line behind him. Uncharacteristically brilliant move by Romney/his campaign.

What's not to get? Do you need it animated? What would have happened if Romney went in front of the NAACP and promised to end welfare and food stamps? I'm guessing it would be a different reaction than if he said it at a tea party rally. Is it racist to expect that the reactions would be different?

If you are asking why he should do such a thing, it's because he would win the presidency in a landslide if he did it.

I didn't read much of the thread before I posted, looks like people have figured it out now.

Most poor republicans believe that the only thing standing between them and being really wealthy is an intrusive government. they don't necessarily strive to be rich in the sense you might think, but in that case they blame their apathy on knowing that if they did try the evil soscialist commies would just halt their progress.

Man, lots of you people are really terrible at seeing the world from the viewpoint of a poor rural white idiot.

You really think promising to end all welfare and food stamps is a winning position to take? Seems most people understand that welfare and food stamps, while unpopular, are better than watching people starve to death or freeze to death.

But, hey, I could be wrong, and you could be right and the idea of getting rid of food stamps and welfare are so popular that anyone who advocates doing so could win in a landslide. If that is true, then Romney is an idiot for failing to advocate for doing away with welfare and food stamps, even if not in front of the NAACP, and does not deserve to be elected to office. Thanks for giving me another reason not to vote for him.

And they think why big reason why the government is intrusive is hand outs to mostly blacks.

I agree that people on the left don't understand how these people think, we need to understand how they think and come up with ways to influence them. Logic and yelling at them don't work.

It's not even that. If you look at any third world countries that don't have those programs, you'll see that they prevent the poor and hungry from taking machetes to the people that have the money and food.

I'm sure the image of him fleeing in terror from a bunch of confused looking middle class blacks sitting on their asses in a convention hall would galvanize the electorate for him.
