This gets a resounding 'Duh!' from people who are familiar with the trainer's previous antics.

As if the other trainers at that level behave in any other way. All those horses are abused but man can they run fast for a couple of years before they die. However, if they are lucky to survive all that then they can enjoy being a stud on a farm for a few more years while being in tremedous pain the whole time.

The amazing about having a horse on goofballs is just how do they get the pill bottle open?

Probably explains why the horse's full name is I'll Have Another Benny For The Road And I Can Quit Anytime I Want.

When I rule the world, I will ban all riding events for horses under the age of 3.

If I owned a race horse I'd name it Rance Larmstrong

I'm wondering if they've found any evidence that I'll Have Another was on dermorphin.

I knew there was more to this (and honestly think there is still more.) Why retire one for good if it really was a slightly bowed tendon? I think it was related to those quarantine barns and the inability to work their "magic" while under the steward's nose. This makes me sad...

Personally I think horse racing is on par with dog fighting - you're breeding an animal beyond its natural capabilities (too large of a frame on too small legs running too fast) for the enjoyment of others, and lifespans are short. We (properly) vilify people willing to kill dogs in the name of sport, but we have no problem with those willing to wear horses into the ground in the same pursuit.
But that said, in the last twenty years or so the genetics of the sport have gone nuts - you don't have dynastic families with patience willing to come up with deep genetic lines that produce champions year after year, you have everyone looking for payoff _now_. I'll Have Another couldn't run the races without being on every kind of drug known to man, but his genes will be passed down to create the next freakish race horse.

So if greyhound racing is being banned because it is deemed to be "cruel and inhumane" to the dogs, it $tand$ to rea$on that we can do the $ame with thoroughbred racing.

Right?
