Knowing Speedway's rules for handling these issues, the clerk may actually be fired for doing that.

And every time he closed the cash drawer, the faint clank of his massive brass balls was heard

I'm not saying whether or not the clerk should be punished for refusing to cooperate with the thief, but anyone who is willing to put their life on the line for some money, that isn't even theirs, is a goddamn idiot.

Yeah, you'd best get back in line. These other armed robbers got here before you; wait your turn.

It's easy to be Mr. Tough Guy when you're surrounded by bullet-proof glass. Would you turn into Mr. Quivering Pussy without it? Heroes often end up dead and stupid heroes will do so to save the $200 in the cash draw.

That's pretty much everyone in the US military. It's not like we need our military to prevent invasion of the United States or to "protect our freedoms". It's all about protecting our interests, which are ultimately economic.

Generally, I'd agree with you, but when you're late into a double shift for not very much pay and some amateur is clearly bluffing about having a weapon to rob you, you need to grab destiny by the nuts and say, "I wasn't even supposed to be here today."

Exactly. Someone gets desperate enough, they don't shoot the cashier. They shoot someone else. The cashier knows how to open the drawer, Joe Smith getting a cup of coffee does not.

/CSB - Their equipment isn't that hard to operate, actually. Heard a story about a guy that robbed a Speedway, tied up the employee in the back and after seeing very little money in the till, he figured out how to use the register and worked the store for a while until he scored enough cash to leave.

Sometimes it's about principal. If you let people bully you, they will continue to do so. If someone stands up, takes their gun away, and whups a robbers ass, I bet they will give it some thought before they rob someone else. If everyone meekly rolls over at the mention of the word gun (If you RTFA she didn't even produce one. She *said* she had one. No direct threat right there) then it will only cause robbers to go rob more.

I wished I learned this when I was in grade school. I got picked on all the time because I put up with it. I tried ignoring it, and that just makes bullies try harder. It wasn't until highschool when I got so damn fed up, that I popped a kid right in the snount, and when he put both hand up to his face, locked a leg around his foot and shoved him face first into a concrete planter. After that, I got the only thing I wanted, I was left alone.

So if some asshole want to rob me, I am going to resist if I get a chance. You get some ghetto thug who walks up within melee range and puts a gun to your head, you can strike it away, twist against his grip and remove the gun from his possession. Now if I got 4 gunmen covering me from 15 feet away, I'm gonna give up the ducats.
/Not a ITG, I just don't want to take the chance that he blasts me anyway, so I can't ID him to the cops.

pion: Only a coward would brag about not being one. People who aren't cowards realize they don't need to say so.

Surprisingly, the same can be said about men who are insecure in their manliness and/or the size of their penis -- the more they brag about how much they have, the less they actually have.

Big_Fat_Liar: It's not like we need our military to prevent invasion of the United States or to "protect our freedoms".

You understand what a "deterrent" is, right? Do you believe that large-scale human aggression is a relic of the past? That the poorer 3/4 of the world is content to just sit back and accept their lot in life, congratulating wealthier nations on their good fortune? That no strong nation would ever think of annexing a weak neighbor if they believe that nobody will stop them?

Pax Americana has done so many Americans an educational disservice by artificially and temporarily suppressing the cold reality of statecraft and the uglier aspects of human ambition.

You'll get no argument from me. The size I claim for my penis depends strongly on how funny I think it would be. Besides, nobody that knows me would believe I have a porno dick.

It's the same for racism or homophobia, as well. People that aren't racist don't have to say they're not. They just don't do racist shiat. And if they say something racist, they don't protest about how not racist they are. They apologize.

Article doesn't say, this gas station could've had bullet proof glass. Pretty common around certain parts of MI. The clerks at the nearby Speedway, I patronize, are the type to compare what the theif has to what they are packing. They don't care about the money, they just want an excuse to shoot someone.
