All those people who campaigned on job creation are doing a spectacular job of dedicating their time to job creating.

"To date, 32 Floor votes have been taken to repeal, defund, or dismantle ObamaCare. Tomorrow's vote to repeal ObamaCare will be the 33rd," read an advisory from the office of Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy (R-CA).

Is he actually bragging about that?

2012-07-11 11:26:59 AM
And who says that the GOP Congress doesn't get anything useful done?

ok, THAT headline is fricking brilliant.

As amazed as I am that they got the transportation bill through, there are lots of other real issues that they could go work on. Not abortion either, but infrastructure spending, various kinds of government reform, and heck, even recognition of politicians by naming post offices.

SCOTUS just ruled that it was Constitutional. I mean, that just happened, right? I didn't hallucinate that vote or anything.

I pretty sure SCOTUS ruled that it was the biggest tax hike in the history of the known universe.

If they could actually repeal it it might boost the funeral industry somewhat.

It is the single biggest tax hike in terms of what it does in the history of the known universe. Best part, forever.

In terms of tax hikes that only apply to Americans without health insurance, Obamacare is certainly the biggest one in the history of the known universe.

If they really wanted to repeal it, they would hold the government hostage again. Filibuster every bill in the Senate and refuse to let bills come up for a vote in the House until the Senate Democrats vote for health care repeal and Obama signs it.

/of course, they won't. Talk about a bunch of pussies.

2012-07-11 01:18:08 PM
It will be fun to watch which GOP members will do campaign mailers and commercials bragging "I fought to get you health care" in the 2014 elections.

FTFA: The law is projected to provide health care to some 30 million Americans by 2019, and reduce the deficit, according to the Congressional Budget Office. CBO did not score the GOP's latest repeal bill but last year said repeal would add $230 billion to the deficit.

So, how is repealing Obamacare good, again?

/no big deficits unless WE REPUBLICANS make the big deficits

I'm glad they solved the pressing problem of creating more jobs and reducing the unemployment rate from 8% to 5%.

Do they think they look good by wasting time on this 33 instances, when they know it will just fail? Good job asshats, we're paying you for this shiat.

I mean "Yeeeeaah! REPEAL GOBAMACARE!"

2012-07-11 02:56:56 PM
And they wonder why their favorability ratings are so low.

Wait they voted 32 separate times to repeal Obamacare? I would have given up at 10. 20 at most.

Yeah, but giving up would pressure them into, you know, actually doing something.

Apparently you haven't heard the latest GOP talking point that the SCOTUS doesn't get to determine what is constitutional.

/Not kidding.
//Wish I was.

That's exactly what I was thinking while reading that. "Hey look, everybody. I'm wasting your money and my time! Check it out!"

Ya, but unlike the Republicans in Congress you have a fully functioning brain stem.

Once this passes both the House and Senate, President Obama will surely sign the Obamacare repeal. I...oh wait.

Time wasting, do-nothing 'tards.

I think you're forgetting how many decent, upstanding GOP lawyers have been hired because of all of these. I just think you misunderstood who the jobs were going to be created for. Because you know, f**k the poor.

Surely, if by the 33rd time the nation doesn't know we are against this, a 34th time will indicate we are! These asshats need to get kicked in the head. Like 3-year-olds screaming and crying that they don't get the toy they wanted in their happy meal. Wait, no, I take that back. A 3-year-old would figure out this display was pointless well before your typical Republican.

I was watching the House on CSPAN today (and yesterday) and I couldn't get Sonny & Cher's "I've got you babe" out of my head.

Did they at least say "job-killing" when they were discussing the new freeper-friendly bill on the floor. I hear that saying "job-killing" really works wonders.

What jobs has "Obamacare" killed? Well....none, but that doesn't matter.

Death Panels!

justtray: I hope their constiuents realize how retarded and petty their elected officals look and tell them.

It's never "my" Senator or Representative, it's always the other guys who are the problem.

Tangent: In Massachusetts we're going to have the choice between an incumbent Republican Senator who has shown willingness to work across the aisle at times and a fairly hardcore Democrat who is selling herself as the people's voice against Wall Street. Normally I would be more likely to vote for the person who seems more willing to put party aside and get behind smart ideas, but I feel like a vote for him would make it just slightly easier for Senator Joe Bob McCableguy to get his neanderthalic socially conservative agenda pushed through if things did fall along party lines. Of course, electing her just amps up the far left versus far right bullshiat, so that doesn't help either (unless I want gridlock, which can be good at times but not when we need to get the country moving again).

/Cliff's Notes version: thank goodness I don't live in Texas

Well you gotta admit, OBIGOT's Magical Time Machine is a pretty tough act to follow.

There's this tiny little bit of me that hopes the Republicans get their way. That they finally sell the whole story, everybody falls for it and they finish running the country into ruin. Then we can have flamewars in front of actual flames as we try to survive on the streets in a nightmarish Armageddon of financial ruin, collapsed infrastructure and total breakdown of society so the wealthy can save a few bucks on taxes. At least we won't have to read and hear about it anymore.
