What a sad, sad little man. He needs attention so very bad, it's painful to watch. It's kinda creepy actually, the way he courts the college-age sector for his needs. I pity this man, and all the other old attention whores out there who have such a monstrous void in their souls that they need to fill with the lauds of others. It's like KISS or THE WHO on yet another farewell tour, only they do it for the money too, and Bill just does it because he's a lonely puppy at the gates of the Humane Society.

I was going to say pretty much exactly this. I heard a story about him just walking up to some random guy at a mcdonald's or some shiat, taking a bite off the guys burger, and then saying "I'm Bill Murray, and nobody will believe you when you tell them about this"

The guy adores his fans and goes out of his way almost constantly to make contact with them, and do random crap. He just doesn't seem like the type who enjoys the politics of show business or constantly being harassed by paparazzi.

Well, that's one of those apocryphal stories, possibly even an urban legend, but sadly it is backed up by similar behavior elsewhere that has been documented, as you mentioned. And yeah, other than ditching the crapparatzis, he's not very 'private'.

That seems to be a problem with a lot of "satire" sites. It's not really a joke when you're making shiat up that's entirely in the realm of possibility. You need to be a little over the top or it's just lying.

Bill is a decent guy. Some years ago when I was in college for some years, I worked in movie theaters. One snowy Christmas night the theater across the street was showing Ghost Busters or some other Murray vehicle. Murray was in town visiting family so they went to see, yep, his movie. The staff recongized him and he was quite generous with his time, talking, signing posters, etc. He asked not to be recognized to the crowd at large - though the dick manager pushed for it. Of course, the employees at the theater waited until the show was over to tell their brothers across the street.

I live in the Charleston suburbs and everybody is from up north (like me) - so I've generally avoided it. I'm sure a few trips out of the lowcountry will bring the pain, though/
