The word you were looking for is "priced". They were priced at $110. They were valued at $300.

In 2005, I worked with two Americans that loved NASCAR. They missed being home and asked if we could watch taped races that their wives had sent them as some lunch time entertainment. Being polite Canadians, and not uninterested in auto racing. we said sure. It helped they were really nice guys and had a good sense of humour. Whenever someone wanted to get lunch, we'd poke our heads into each other's offices and say, "Turning left?"

The practical upshot of this anecdote... I can now have reasonable discussions about pit strategy with proper red necks. It might save my life sometime if I need to "blend".

Demolition Derby rules. It's NASCAR without the pretense of racing and you're guaranteed that two rednecks will jump out of their cars and get into a fight. I always go for the pit pass so I can stand right on the edge and duck the dirt clods. It's been years since I've been to one. They were much more popular where I used to live in the Midwest than here in Atlanta.

I'd have paid a pretty penny for those tickets. I wouldn't have USED them, but I would have paid well for them. Just because the wet dickslaps that actually GO to NASCAR events hate Obama enough not to pay for a cool piece of presidential memorabilia, it doesn't mean they aren't worth something if you bother to find a buyer who ISN'T one of the wet dickslaps that would actually go to a NASCAR event.

I think they may have meant this:

Each individual ticket is valued at/normally costs $110
4 tickets * $110 per ticket is $440
$300

That having been said, even if they were good seats is that seating area totally sold out otherwise? If not it may be that actual consumers felt the price was too high and only wanted to buy the tickets at a discount, regardless of their previous owner.

At the race I went to, I looked up at the fighter jets doing their flyover at the climax of the anthem and I thought "Hmmm... I wonder how many schoolteachers could work for a year on the amount of money being spent to provide us with this five second glimpse of war machinery?"

My Father-in-law got to race a Formula-1 car a couple weekends ago. It was one of those "pay a couple thousand and we'll teach you how to drive one of these things and let you go 180 mph for awhile" things.

Apparently, there was a similar thing going on for NASCAR before the F1 thing happened. He said the crowds were COMPLETELY different. The F1 guys were all professionals - doctors, lawyers, my FIL is a chemical engineer. But the NASCAR folks? Redneck central. Mullets, cutoffs, cheap beer and missing teeth. He said there was one women being shoehorned into the cockpit of one of those cars that probably weighed as much as the car itself. If you want to judge a sport by the people enthusiastic enough about the sport to throw down heavy cash to play at it for a day, then even the creme de la creme of NASCAR fans is still broke-ass white trash.

I'll explain it slow:

NASCAR hillbillies ..... watch fox news .... and believe everything.

Babwa Wawa: I enjoy going to NASCAR races - I go about 4-5 times a year. But by and large, the people who attend the races are racist hillbillies, and NASCAR caters to them.

I had a chance two years ago to see both the Montreal F1 Grand Prix and then the NASCAR road series on the same course, a few weeks apart.

You REALLY could see a difference in the fanbase. Far more rednecks. French ones, ones from out West, American ones, etc.

You could take a picture of the two different crowds and immediately see the NASCAR ones, because they were kind of dirty and unwashed,
