They do seem to have a knack for obtaining underperforming big men.

Sounds like a repeat from 1996.

I was about to say, didn't that "Golden Era" end when Shaq and Penny left?

Their building is clearly too old. I think they need a new arena. That will fix everything...

Those are 2 eerily identical eras there. Both teams made the playoffs a few times, Both teams made one NBA finals. Both had past their prime role players (Turk, Shard, Horace Grant). Both had douchebag bigs who got out of the Magic Kingdom when he could. The only difference is that Dwight is going full Lebron......and just ask Shaq, you never go full Lebron.

Sometimes, in the HEAT of the moment, it's forgivable to go full Lebron.

It's the NBA! If you don't win a ring you SUCK!

Nevermind that it's the hardest sport to win a championship in (the fewest teams do and you have the most repeats.) Nevermind that in the NFL, MLB, or NHL, you can have a good playoff run and have the media story be that you did well.

It's the NBA! If you lose in the finals you're terrible and worthless and need to rebuild and all of your players are chokers!

Fun tidbit: in The Jordan Rules, Jordan was talking about just retiring after the 1990-91 season (he said it during the season, before they ended up winning) because he was sick of the bullsh*t about not winning titles and didn't want to play under that pressure. I think he would've gone full Artest in this era with current media.

There was an article, maybe Grantland, on how LeBron's life would have been totally amazing if he was born 15 years earlier. That's a good example.

Dwight is making LeBron look downright PR savvy. At least "The Decision" was over in an hour, this has been going on for months. I think Dwight might be actually retarded. He had a chance to opt out, and didn't take it in favor of ... refusing to play another game for the team you just took your player option with? What?

you have pee hands: He had a chance to opt out, and didn't take it in favor of ... refusing to play another game for the team you just took your player option with? What?

But he was blackmailed into doing that because they threatened to trade him to another team he didn't want to play for for a couple of months if he didn't sign the option!

Oh, then he backed off on that statement because it was obviously stupid and no one bought it.

At least LeBron had the sense to say "I'll decide when my contract is up."
