I'm sorry. I thought it was funny.

He ONLY said "rape" twice. I don't think he really LIKES rape!

2012-07-11 08:20:34 AM
How do you go to the stand up show of a guy with the most popular show on Comedy Central, not know a thing about the guy performing yet still have tickets, heckle a stand up and then freak out when he turns his act on you?

This sounds like a case of a heckler getting her ass handed to her and trying her best to turn it into some kind of hate crime.

2012-07-11 08:40:53 AM
Unnecessary. Between this and Bill Corbett's twitter firestorm/apology for an totally innocuous "tranny" joke it has not been a good week for comedy.

There is something about the thought of seeing the course of comedy dictated by the humorless and easily offended that angers me to no end.

2012-07-11 08:45:28 AM
Actual rape is not funny. JOKES about rape are often hilarious.

2012-07-11 09:00:47 AM
The audience member felt "provoked" and says she yelled out, "Actually, rape jokes are never funny!"

Heckling a stand-up comedian is never productive

Here's a thought: Don't heckle.

Also, how in the blue bloody f*ck do you not check out youtube or something to see the comedian's shtick before you go?

The joke about his cousin hitting a dock on a jetski or the jokes about his sister getting mugged and raped could've tipped you off

2012-07-11 09:12:03 AM
Would respect him more if he didn't apologize. Don't heckle if you can't take it. Now excuse I'm off to get a country breakfast.

2012-07-11 09:13:11 AM
Jezebel readers and comedy don't mix. Who could have seen that coming?

2012-07-11 09:13:17 AM
FTFA "and I, completely stunned and finding it hard to process what was happening but knowing I needed to get out of there, immediately nudged my friend, who was also completely stunned, and we high-tailed it out of there ... I should probably add that having to basically flee while Tosh was enthusing about how hilarious it would be if I was gang-raped in that small, claustrophobic room was pretty viscerally terrifying..."

Get over it and/or get some therapy, Sugar Tits. And don't go to a comedy club featuring a comedian known for off-color humor until that time. Or don't, and just carry on down the path of becoming a perpetually wounded, humorless, bitter old coont with a thousand cats and a hatred of everything, because everything makes you feel like a victim.

Also THIS.

2012-07-11 09:13:23 AM
Seriously, Daniel Tosh is the least threatening person in the world. How can you feel like you're in danger at his show?

2012-07-11 09:13:23 AM
His joke about his sister being raped is pretty funny.

2012-07-11 09:16:10 AM

Mid_mo_mad_man: Would respect him more if he didn't apologize.

Me too, but I think the cable network that signs his paycheck had more to do with that than any genuine sense of remorse.

Still very disappointing. It's between a comedian apologizing for their jokes and gang rape for the worst thing in the world to witness. Neck and neck.

2012-07-11 09:16:36 AM
I really don't know how to feel about this. On the one hand, I really dislike people being overly sensitive about everything nowadays. On the other hand, I think Daniel Tosh is a superdouche. Whoever wins, we all lose.

I always feel bad when I laugh at that one, but his delivery is so funny. On a nicer note, I think apologizing was the right call; pointing at someone and saying that it would be funny if they got raped could effect one's conscience.

She went there to see Dane Cook and Tosh went on after him.

No excuse for heckling a comedian when you can't handle the response.

2012-07-11 09:25:52 AM
I a few friends on Facebook freaking out about this, demanding that folks boycott Tosh.0. Ummm...supporting Tosh is not also supporting rape you c*nts!

I have been to many comedy shows and seen almost every single heckler get their ass handed to them. If you do not want attention from a comedian, do not heckle.

I can't seem to find it...but I remember seeing a YouTube clip of a comedian eviscerating some douche, calling him out in front of his 2-3 lady friends, mocking his masculinity, etc. One of the best heckler killers I've seen...I am sure someone here will find it...

You know it's all an act right? His whole persona, some weird, ass backwards, douchey cult of personality.

Comedians would be horrible if they did not use satire and hyperbole.

Do you really think that the guys on the Blue Collar Comedy tour are a bunch of mindless rednecks? Do you really think that Lewis Black is really that stressed out and really that far out on his wits end? No!

It is all an act.

To be fair..

I have met those guys (in a Bass Pro Shops, no less) and it's not as much of an act as you would think.

I don't know about that, the guys who heckled Michael Richards got him to pretty much kill his career.

2012-07-11 09:35:21 AM

PoochUMD: She went there to see some other comedians she hadn't heard of, in spite of Dane Cook's being on the bill and Tosh went on after him.

Fixed to represent her story. She is clearly a liar with a shame fetish.

If you're a special snowflake who doesn't have a sense of humor, what the hell are you doing going to comedy shows without checking out the comedian? And if you do have a problem with it, while the rest of the audience is laughing, just get up and leave and ask for your money back.

I farking hate all these perpetual victims that walk around looking for something to be outraged about, so they can attention whore and have all the other retarded PC drones tell them how brave they are for getting butthurt and ruining everybody else's good time.

I hope the apology is just a setup for Tosh to demolish her on his show. He can do a web redemption for himself and do a solid minute of jokes about that girl getting raped by farm animals.

I don't think either party would call that "productive".

She should have just left if she was offended by the comedy and not tried to engage him, but at the same time "Wouldn't it be funny if 5 guys raped this woman right now" is crossing the line. There are a thousand different ways that can be handled without going there.

I was at a local comedy club a few years back and this drunk chick kept talking during the headliner's set. He asked her to be quiet a few times, told her to shut up, then finally went off on a minute long rant about how he hopes she gets raped when she walks across campus.

She got pissed and left. I lol'd.

Yeah, he should have said "wouldn't it be ironic if...."

Better hope she never finds out about Fark or those panties are going to bunch up so tight air won't be able to escape. Maybe send her up to TFD, they'll give her some outrage.

it was taken out of context.

tosh: wouldn't it be funny if 5 guys raped this woman right now...is something i'd never say!

Assuming you met Larry the Cable Guy (who truly is the only mindless redneck on that tour) it's act. There are plenty of videos out there of Dan Whitney where he's wearing button up shirts (with sleeves) and has no accent.

I'm surprised that anyone still likes this guy. His audience seems like it would only range from 13 year olds to early 20's. His show on CC is mainly childish humor bordering asinine. I'm not saying it is not funny but some people simply don't like that brand of humor, especially as they get older.

I liked a few of his stand-ups awhile back but I really don't care for his show. Laughing about crap that's on the internet is what I do WHEN IM BROWSING THE INTERNET!... I don't need to watch a damn show for that.

I was merely attempting to point out that by and large, today's popular (money making) "entertainment" is well planned and scripted.

alwaysjaded: Better hope she never finds out about Fark or those panties are going to bunch up so tight air won't be able to escape. Maybe send her up to TFD, they'll give her some outrage.

If I remember TFD correctly (haven't visited in a few years) that would probably be the safest spot for her. Pathetic lonely non-men stroking her ego and insisting that she was 110% right to do whatever it is she did while similarly uninteresting and spineless women express sympathy while "subtly" trying to one-up her with their own sob story.

2012-07-11 09:55:43 AM
But I bet she'd love Carlin's bit about transplanting the perfectly good pussies from dead young girls onto used up old women

2012-07-11 09:55:53 AM
Wow, surprised so many Farkers are attacking the woman. Oh, wait, no I'm not.

I think the bigger lesson here is : Never go to see Daniel Tosh.

There are early videos of Larry the Cable Guy in a polo without an accent as well. He was just a normal comic until he figured out a popular shtick. And now he can buy the panhandle.

Watching people shatter their femurs and take dumps is the highest form of comedy. I hope you get raped by a half-black, half-Asian, autistic midget amputee.

I've seen Tosh a couple of times here in Dallas and a couple of years ago there was a talkative chick in the front row. She tried to hold her own but ended up leaving embarassed. Just because you are in the front row of a show, the comedian isn't having a conversation with you. Attracting their attention will normally end poorly for you.
