Under Thailand's lese majeste legislation, anyone convicted of insulting the king, queen, heir or regent faces up to 15 years in prison on each count.

The King, Queen, heirs and regents of Thailand are all fascist assholes with delusions of adequacy.

What do you expect from a country when their main export is under-aged sex slaves of questionable gender? The entire world laughs and mocks the royal family of a useless nation. Below is a more respected and loved monarch than these inbred ass clowns.

Now all you need to do is go to Bangkok and post that announcement prominently in multiple places. Make sure the hotel you're staying in is noted as well. You will be receiving some government officials very soon, so make sure you're wearing your royal finery.

This is a stupid law, but this guy is a dumbass. You don't publicly do something that you KNOW is a blatant violation of a law they take rather seriously, then show up and act so surprised, your highness, that you end up in the pokey.

If you want to go back to visit Thailand, don't do something which is obviously going to put you on their watch list. If you want to do something which is obviously going to put you on their watch list, don't plan to go back anytime soon. It isn't that difficult to understand.

Normally when this comes up all sorts of FARKers rush to the defense of the Thai government, e.g. "you've got to be a moron if you don't realize how beloved the Thai king is and how important he is to the Thai people blah blah blah."

I wouldn't call it a defense of the Thai government, but I -have- almost seen a guy nearly get his ass kicked by a bunch of really pissed off Thai guys by talking shiat about the king in a room full of Thais, and this was on US soil.
You'd be just as stupid to where a bomb-head-Mohammed T-shirt in the middle of Riyadh.

Actually I hear the King himself is not a huge fan of these laws. It's more like the ruling party yells "You offended the king!" and tosses people they don't like in jail. Since the King is part of the government, being critical of the government is being critical of the King. Basically it's a political tool.

Also don't buy an external hard drive. Most of them are made there last I knew. Personally, boycotting over this law seems silly anyway. Most if not all people jailed for it end up being released by none other than the king himself (who doesn't like the law in the first place, as it has already been pointed out here)
