Is the lead singer of Green Day Ozzie's daughter? If she just wore a little less eyeliner...

And yet the "Heart Like a Hand Grenade" documentary has yet to get any sort of release yet.

At least it's not a documentary about KISS or Rush.

American Idiot was actually a really good album and probably their best work since Dookie.

Those bands that only have 3 members seem to stay together longer.

It's the 4th one that brings the trouble.

They all look pretty skinny still, no wonder Farkers hate them.

But then there's Jason White, the official-unofficial fourth member. He's in the studio with them for their new album trilogy.

It's all alright, both of them together can't total 8 minutes, like most of Green Day's songs.

Checked it out.

Cool.

Is he a trouble causer?

Seems like these guys have their shiat together and should be putting out quality music for at least another decade.

I wouldn't have much to say to them, besides 'Good jorb, thanks for entertaining me!', but it would be nice.

I think the last time an album was put together as well as this was possibly Queensryche. Perhaps just regular Queen?

Does anyone remember the band giving interviews talking about how sad it would be to be old men, fathers, and husbands and still doing "Dookie"?

Then "Warning" sold like 3 copies and they cranked out "American Idiot" right fast, got some tattoos, and collected the cheques?

I'm not one of those "TRU PUNX" people, I just really enjoyed their direction, and "Warning" was such a great album that it was sad to see them cash out.

Green Day once did a big article in Guitar World where Billie Joe fired back at all the whiners and sad sacks that claimed he ripped off their sound. It was hilarious and I wish that either these revolved around him just talking mad trash about Johnny Rotten's career shilling butter.

I can't say much bad about Milo, except I still want an explanation for the stream of homophobia that comes at the end of "I'm Not a Loser." Don't get me wrong. The dude is incredibly intelligent. But that crap comes right out of left field.

And Greg needs to stop showing his junk to strangers. I bet the day ChatRoulette was invented, that was the happiest day of his life. Once again, he's very intelligent in his field. But damn. He needs to get a new hobby.

Greg Graffin is a knob, totally. But he is a smart knob. I am not aware of his tendancy to display his member though, I would like to read your newsletter.
I agree about the I'm Not A Loser thing, but it really was a looooong time ago. Milo is a very nice guy. Bill is amazingly nice and very cool with fans. They were all over Vegas last year for Punk Rock bowling especially Stephan, saw him like 11 times wandering around hanging out. Not a hint of anger or malice from any of them.

There was a certain novelty to the Ramones. By the time Green Day showed up to somewhat more successfully commercialize the shiat out of that sound, it was pretty damned stale.

Have you actually listened to their albums and digested the sound? No album sounds like any other album at all. Every release has it's own sound and style behind it. If you want to call them out for selling out, then Dookie is where you need to point, my friend. Signing from their underground roots to a major label is considered selling out. But even that can be argued because their goal was always to be 'the biggest band in the world', not 'play gilman street into our 40s and fade away like all these other bands'. But you are right, why would a band want to write an album that will get them over and bring them back to the top of the game? Hell, they weren't even sure that it wasn't going to be their last album. They were prepared for it to flop, and then pretty much end their careers. Of course, most of this is just my opinion.

Now we'll move on to the facts regarding this issue. Cranked out American Idiot right after Warning? Yea, if you consider four years between Warning cranking out, then yea, how did they do it so quickly?

American Idiot almost never got written. They had a whole other album recorded and it was being mixed as a follow up to Warning. It was called Cigarettes and Valentines. The master tapes went missing, and when the idea of rerecording it came up, they realized they weren't happy with it and had no motivation to rerecord, and decided to try something new. Each band member wrote a 30 second song as part of brainstorming, that song evolved into Jesus of Suburbia, and the rest of the album came after that.
