The local paper here (small town in Japan) ran an article about this woman yesterday- the jist of it was that the Japanese media couldn't figure out whether she is his wife or previously unknown sister.

So she's the Korean version of Meg White?

It could very well be both.

Now all we need is an unverified sex tape that may or may not be of her

If she actually is the girl his dad banned her from seeing before he died, and now the old man's gone and he goes right back to her...Good for him.

That shows a fascinating amount of independence, going against the will of a dead man whom most of the country (was forced to) loved.

Might even be an indication of better things for the whole country.

So, Daddy banned her 10 years ago, eh? Well, too bad, Daddy...you're dead and I'm King now.

The King is dead. Long live the King!

She looks thrilled to not be dead yet

Did you read this part?

There have been no recent reports on the current whereabouts of Ms Hyon's husband or baby - or whether the couple are still married.

Better things for the whole country except those two, I guess.

Does it strike anyone else as odd that someplace like North Korea has "pop stars"?

So, any bets on how her husband is going to commit glorious suicide? Shoot himself in the back? Encase his feet in cement and jump in a river? Go on an involuntary hunger strike until he dies in a jail cell he built for himself?

Atomic Spunk: Did someone call for an Excellent Horse-Like Lady?

Could also be Hillary Swank. Apparently she has a thing for oppressive nations.

In my head "I Love Pyongyang" is the north korean version of Andrew W.K.'s "I Love New York City". There is no way the real song could actually live up to that.

Did anyone else read that in a totally racist voice?

FTFA: There have been no recent reports on the current whereabouts of Ms Hyon's husband or baby - or whether the couple are still married.

Yeah... this is no way ominous. Kim Jong-un might have been schooled in the West, but he's a dead-eyed monster just like his old man.

EngineerAU: So, any bets on how her husband is going to commit glorious suicide?

You say this like it's some sort of future occurrence.

/I'm guessing it would be a foolish bet anyway; nothing more will ever be heard of this guy.

It's referring to her strength and industriousness. Aka: as productive and valuable as a horse is for an agrarian society.

not sure if serious.jpg

Bread and Circuses keep the masses distracted the world over, from open totalitarian dictatorships to plutocracies masquerading as democracies. Of course they have pop stars.

Sure you can, all you need to be is an Australian Billionaire with an illegal media monopoly.

Him: I rule you. You must give me freaky freaky. By the way, you don't have to worry about that husband or kid anymore.
Her: Ok, here's some cake.
