Wade Miley to close it, rushing to get everyone in.

Adam Dunn needs to strike out to end this game. Make it happen.

2012-07-10 11:05:55 PM
Only player left on the AL bench is Adam Dunn. Huh.

Washington should pinch hit Dunn for Butler.

rcf1105: rcf1105: Cain, Melky, and Sandoval were deserving. But I still say Posey shouldn't have been there.

Let me correct myself: he shouldn't have started. And if Yadier Molina weren't on bereavement, he shouldn't have been there.

Does posey have the sats to back it up? I dont know why rafael furcal was there, was he voted in? Hes not that good and hes definitely not an all star caliber SS.

5 runs. It was awful.

I like seeing TC come out and make that pitching change. He's done a great job with the Mets this year.

Well, we've finally settled the debate. The DH rule sucks.

2012-07-10 11:11:10 PM
This game is ending with the home team losing by 8 and getting shut out.

Sounds like your average game at Kaufman Stadium.

2012-07-10 11:11:15 PM
Melky or Panda for MVP?

I say Sandoval. The three-run triple broke open the game. Also, first-ever bases loaded triple in ASG history.

steamingpile: Maybe you should drive: steamingpile: I would like to see it broken down by decade, I would bet the closer you get to the 80s-90s HFA didnt mean as much.

Going back to 1980, the team with home field advantage has won 24 of 31 World Series championships. It matters.

Read the article I posted, baseball is the one sport it doesnt matter, the HFA is like .540 which is not a big difference, there are spikes but overall its not much of an advantage.

I did:

There have been 84 World Series played since 1924 using the 2-3-2 format in which the team with home-field advantage hosts the first two and last two games, and the home team has won 48 times, or 57%.

This is now 58%, which is substantial. I'm too lazy to delve further into the numbers but it definitely means something. The All Star Game is sure a screwy way to decide it, though. And I doubt many (or even any) players are really concerned with it right now. But come October it is a factor.

Hanrahan is pitching like Reggie Dunlop is taunting him.

How could he swing at that?

I can't believe Country Bumpkin went hitless.

I've heard so many good things about him.

58% is not a lot, it means that you have barely an advantage while in other sports it means a lot more, just read the articles I posted earlier even the sports writers talk about how it means nothing in baseball.

Um, yes it is.

No wonder KC fans were upset Butler wasn't in the HR Derby. They knew he couldn't hit live pitching.

No, I won't. I really don't understand why you seem to be itching for an argument over something so stupid. You are correct that a 58% winning percentage over a sample size of 85 means absolutely nothing. You are also correct that all sports writers are well versed in the laws of probability and we are all dupes for having watched this game.

No difference between .580 and .420 in baseball?

2012-07-10 11:19:17 PM
The home crowd got to watch their charity participant contribute nothing. That's all that matters.

I really wish we had bottled up the pro-AL / pro-Dickey / anti-Giants tears before the game.....

Also, am I missing something? No error on Hype-er? Lazy, petulant, missed-a-pop-fly was a *hit*?

I thought it was an error at the time as well, it wasn't something hard to get to.

Well see, in his time with the Yankees, Melky was pretty much just average with flashes of brilliance and was just discovering Little Chocolate Donuts, and I guess Cashman thought that Javy would really really work the second time around. When he got down to Atlanta, he was already on the full-blown Andruw Jones Fitness Plan.

Thanks MLB, for allowing Kansas City to be the Baseball Capital of the World! It was fun.....til the game started and the AL was down 8 - 0 after 4 innings!

Who knows, maybe tomorrow morning, David GlAss will wake up in his money room, walk to the bathroom, turn on his shower that sprays the tears of Royals fans, and ask himself, "When will enough become enough?", and go and negotiate for the contracts of some of those NL players.

He probably won't though.

/at least the Chiefs have a chance of drunkenly stumbling into the playoffs
//and Sporting was tied for first last time I checked

Bandwagon fan? Hardly. Try born and raised in St. Louis. I'm sorry your team has a shiatty owner and mine doesn't. Maybe you should get some people together to take back your team and throw Glass on his Ass.
