"Texas comes in 26th inEducation and 35th in Quality of Life. And while the state held the line on income taxes, the overall tax burden - including property and sales taxes - is high."

Enjoy your business without me.

I'm glad you've pegged your state to one statistic. How's that working out for you? Are you a temporarily embarrassed future millionaire? Are your other glaring failures not moot and Sarah Palin is automatically president?

Texas is a p*ssy state that talks tough but always comes begging to the fed when it needs it, or taking credit for stimulus spending. I live next door to you but even my state's bizarre voucher program doesn't make us as back-farkward as you people.

Yes, a guy from Louisiana is making fun of you. Let that sink in.

Only one of those matters, just because a good chunk of their citizens live in poverty, have poor education, reliant upon foodstamps is no matter....Business can rape and pillage at their leisure and that's a good thing!

In depth studies have shown that almost all the jobs are minimum wage only jobs. Texas makes Wal-Marts and Dollar Generals, not real jobs that can sustain people.

wow when did A&M build a memorial to the Bonfire accident? I havent been back to College Station in 12 years. I remember the bonfire accident pretty well and nothing I can do can erase the horror of watching that thing come crashing down. With all the morons involved with "Cut" on the weekends, I guess we finally hit snake eyes when the crap hit the fans. I remember a moron putting a axe through his foot cause he was so drunk he could barely stand up straight. Glad I'll never have to go through that nonsense again.....

The reason Texas is doing so great right now is that all the talent that fled California and the various states in New England have moved here to form a few colonies. IIRC the statistic was that some 400,000 Californians have moved here in the past decade.

And yes, it is essentially a brain loan, but the out of stater's who smell the bullshiat send their kids to prep classes after school. And yes, it's the stuff that separates the Morlocks from the Eloi. So while our education for the masses might suck it doesn't affect the upper and upper middle class people who actually know that religion is there for the benefit of the shepherd who shears the sheep.

Yay. You hire the most illegal immigrants while acting pretend toughest about immigration. And you have a governor who would be a theocrat if only he could spell the word. This is my jealous face :|

I've had the ahem ... interesting ... experience of living in North Carolina for a decade now, and I am continually amused at the state level politics. Republicans in this state have a talking point that more or less says this state is horrible for business and regulations/laws/whatever Democrats do make it horrible.

Yet here North Carolina is ranked 4th, and I've pretty much seen it in the top 10 on every list ... Forbes, Business Week, etc, etc.

It's amazing what stupid people will believe if the politicians they voted for say it over and over.
